Seth Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 I despise sunscreen. Makes you feel like a greaseball and has to be reapplied throughout the day unlike UPF clothing. Since I started wearing the long sleeve UPF shirts and buffs, I feel like a million bucks after fishing all day in the heat and sunlight. Sun screen sucks! Buy the buffs with mesh around the mouth area. Gillz brand is one of my favorites. JestersHK and snagged in outlet 3 2
MickinMO Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 I like the long sleeve UV hoodies. It does help keep sun off cheeks some and obviously neck. Then lots of sunscreen on nose and cheeks Daryk Campbell Sr and snagged in outlet 3 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 I go full on ninja. Never have been a sun person. I burn on top of burn. In the summer I keep me them wet and they get very cool. They dry pretty quick so I just dip them in the water and put them back on. I do it with shirts too. I wear them wet on bike rides in the high heat of the summer and they cool you down just great. Never miss a bike ride due to extreme...or cold for that matter. Sunglasses with side vents work great to keep the fog out. BilletHead and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Blll Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Pretty dark complection so spf 15 was more than enough for my neck, ears and nose. Used to think "raccoon eyes" was just a sign of having a good day. Started taking meds for high blood pressure and all bets were off! Spf 30 now with the buff and long sleeves. Skin doc is watching at least 3 splotches on my grill. I still tan but its July before you'd know it. Daughter at 30 has been cut on 3x already. I agree Wrench, walking around off the water with buff, hat and sunglasses is a little much.
jdmidwest Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Seems to be 2 types now. The guys with full body cover ink who wear nothing but a pair of shorts, and the guys who walk around fully covered like a raped Muslim chick. I thought the raped Muslim chicks were the ones that run around uncovered. Its the ones in the Harem that are fully covered I think. I bought one when the blast of radiation burned the melanin out of my pores. It comes in handy in cold weather since the areas are really cold sensitive. But I usually rub SPf 50 on the face and neck and wear a big floppy hat. liphunter, fishinwrench and Daryk Campbell Sr 1 2 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Terrierman Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Tilley, Sombrero, Straw Hat, anything but one of those things.
drew03cmc Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 I have them, also a Kryptek Yeti SPF floppy hat and SPF 30 to 50 sun shirts. All I don't have is the sun pants and gloves. I'm genetically predisposed to have skin cancer. My dad has had it cut, burned and frozen off for over 30 years. I know if I don't do something now, I'll be there too. Andy
Gavin Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Have one but wore it only once. I don’t mind sunscreen on my face, ears, hands.. Long sleeves, long pants, and a broad brimmed hat is my preference.
fishinwrench Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I resent y'all making me feel bad for loving the feel of the sun beating on my bare skin. When did this anti-sun propaganda begin anyway? Thinking back to all the old sun leathered farmers and outdoorsmen I grew up around, I can't recall a single one that died from, had to get treated for, or even complained about the possibility of "skin cancer". I'm not too sure that you fellas haven't allowed your brains to be reprogrammed about some of these things. I was born into a world that had a sun, thankfully,....and be darn if I'm gonna hide from it and take pride in any extreme whiteness. I'd get alot more sun on my privates if it wouldn't get me arrested. 😎 terryj1024, tho1mas and nomolites 2 1
