@Harps texted me a 5:45 this morning and said the rain was a ways off. I grabbed my stuff, stopped for sammich supples, and headed to The Harper Castle. We headed southeast in search of some fish and to revisit a spot we hadn’t seen since last year.

The creek had changed a bunch in a year. Really amazing how different it looked. We worked hard and caught a few but really nothing close to what we were looking for. We covered a lot of ground on foot and as always had a good time.

Harps is always picking up other people’s trash and today it finally paid off.

Refreshing to see an honest fishing report!

Most only report when they do well.

Nice report.  its been 25 years since I've floated Bryant Creek.

I've never floated it. Been there twice, to the exact same place. Need to get a boat on it though. It's a cool spot.

Thanks Mitch but if I only posted a report when I "do well" you guys would never hear from me again.

But actually I did do well yesterday. Hung out with a buddy. Went to the river. Caught a fish. Took some pictures. My version of well has thankfully changed over the years. But I also remember when yesterday wouldn't have been okay. And I would drive home pissed. Usually that was after a tournament. And I would just feel horrible until I was able to get back out and prove I could do it. So I get that too, just glad I don't have those feelings anymore.

Boy me too!

I didn't truly start enjoying fishing until I quit making a living at it.   Nothing sucks worse than being broke and having to pretend that you're not.

I've never driven home pissed from a fishing trip.  I just like going fishing.  I prefer catching but that doesn't always happen.  Sometimes I know I'm going to face difficult conditions and still go.  I guess I could post all my bad trips but I thought people wanted to hear about success and see pictures.

So in that vain, I hit a local river Saturday morning that had jumped a foot overnight.  I was surprised how muddy it was and only caught 3 dink smallmouth.  Two on a spinnerbug and one on a square bill.  Drove home feeling pretty good except I had to go to a charity auction that night.  They did have bottle beer though.

The only tournaments I've fished in have been office tournaments, and even those ruined my enjoyment of the trip. I quit doing them because they just weren't fun.

Me and some buddies have little competition amongst ourselves each spring and fall, but it's all fun and games and nobody cares who wins, we just enjoy fishing together.

Glad we went yesterday Smallyflys, I'll post up a few of my pics when I get the chance. Good day on the water.🍻
