And it doesn't stop with the little guys. I think we're in for a long, painful downturn. Very sad 😔 Things around here are shutting down drastically. Food and gas is about all that's available in our nearby towns. Alot of small business folks are talking, and acting like, they are throwing in the towel for good. Seems a bit drastic to me, but folks are genuinely scared. This is starting to feel like some next level $#!t. 😬 C'mon American's, roll up your sleeves and grow a pair. Surely you're all not that easy to shut down.
Johnsfolly Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 My buddy owns a restaurant in Daytona. He let me know that he is good for three more months if they remain closed. I hope that he is right. He's a smart guy. Didn't buy the restaurant without having enough backing for up to two years without drawing any money for himself from the restaurant. Again I hope that by June things have taken a turn for the better.
bfishn Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 BTW RPS, good on you! (Australian version ) Any one of those masks could be the one that keeps somebody on the right side of the dirt. You need to switch the shades to wrap-arounds though, never know when to expect a sidearm spitball. They keep your fingers away better too. Like all of you, I've pondered my best course of action for the near future. I've settled on; Help others when I can. Stay out of the way when I can't Keep my head down, my eyes open, and my mouth shut. I can't dance like I used to.

jdmidwest Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Seriously, you all are getting too down on all of this. Less people out, more room for us. More people at home, things are quieter in town. My chances of getting killed in a car wreck have been reduced dramatically because less idiots driving around on cell phones. You can shop in peace when you go to town. I am an essential business. I am still out in the public on a daily basis. I meet strangers and spend time with them. I eat out and make cash transactions. I use public restrooms. I shop at Wally World. I mingle with other business men but not in groups. I am in a higher risk factor because of the radiation that zapped my neck makes swallowing more difficult. Any upper respiratory infection is a new problem. I am already at a higher percentile for pneumonia because of it. If I get it, its gonna suck, but I will survive it. But I have a few percent chance more of developing pneumonia and it going to the bad stage. Its the flu, a bad flu. It kills and puts in the hospital people that have other conditions that are making them at risk for the normal flu. If you are strong and healthy, don't have any cardio problems, diabetes, or respiratory problems, your chances of survival are very, very high. If you have any of those problems, then stay away and be very careful what you do. We all die, no stopping it. Its going to happen. Life on Earth is short and we never know how long it will be. You can not live life in fear of dying. Be smart and think. Learn. Live. And put your faith in something other than rubber gloves and masks. fishinwrench and Basfis 1 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. There's more than enough of that going on during GOOD times. It's amazing to me the caliber of people that are in such a bad way already. Obviously they weren't as "on top of it" as they were pretending to be.

Too many people spend money they don’t have and are then in a major bind when there is any kind of hiccup. What frustrates me, though, is that these people are often given relive or are “bailed out” when crap hits the fan which effectively punishes those people that have been conservative with their money an do not receive the ”assistance” (think student loan forgiveness).
Gavin Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Have not felt they brunt of this yet (other than investment losses). My wife & I are still getting full pay & benefits for the moment. Go to work, stay home has been the routine for me last 18 days. My turn in the barrel to store today for possibles. Wife went 10 days ago. No eggs, frozen pizza, cleaning stuff, canned goods a bit bare. Usually abundant mart in Wealth Central MO. Kinda silly. Figure 2-3 gallons of bleach, and a big bottle of Dawn and some spray bottles, mop & dispensers should do fine for cleanup. Tossed all the cannef/dry in the garage for a day or two. Fresh stuff got washed thrice while I took a shower. Terrierman 1
slothman Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Investment losses have been great for many including myself. However, I am viewing this as an amazing buying opportunity. I guarantee there will be a tremendous amount of money made by investors when this whole deal is over.
Gavin Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Looking to buy back in too. Not sure where the bottom is. But thinking not yet.
