I'm sure some of you have also been listening with interest as the media bombards us with the latest "crisis" in that there's now going to be a shortage of beef, pork and chicken.

Now a quarantine is one thing but if you start messing with my steaks, burgers, chops and dead bird I'm gonna start getting irate.

My point here is I'm wondering what if any effect this deal is having on meat availability down y'all's way.

Many stores around Kansas City have begun placing limits on the amount of any of the above that one person can buy and I figure it won't take long at all for that stuff to disappear faster than you can say, "Charmin Ultra Soft".

Just wondering if we should buy what we can around here to take with us or if we should be able to find ample availability of the good stuff down there.

Harter House specifically if Dave or anybody that has visited their meat department recently could chime in.

LEAVE MY MEAT ALONE!!

Next it's gonna be Coors Light and Basil Hayden's and then the revolution will begin with purpose!😡

Was in a local st. louis supermarket chain on Sunday.  Was posted 2 packages of beef per customer.  No limits on anything else.  Picked up a couple strip steaks just cause they looked good.  I was bummed they were sold out of whole chickens.

As of this afternoon, limit 2 fresh beef packages per customer.  St Louis  area.  No other restrictions.   I did notice the chicken breasts were humongous.   I mean very large.  I shop there regularly and cant ever remember them that large.  Also, no pre cut pork chops.   I bought a whole loin, and will cut it down myself,  and keep a roast.

Is this a just Schnucks thing or are other grocers in the area doing the same?

I saw that Costco was going to limit meat purchases in their stores nationwide. It's  not the production folks having the issues. It's  the processing plants. Losing lots of workers to COVID.

The biggest outbreak near us has been the counties with the chicken processing centers. About 10 times the number of cases than in our county.

don't the workers at these processing plants wear masks all the time, even before all of this mess?

Doubt it, spit tenderizes.  Hair and beard nets for food workers standard ppe.

Dierbergs is doing it out here.  The local meat market has been doing it since the start.
