Who told you that Norforks D.O. gets funny?    What's funny about it?   Why is it funnier than anywhere else that stripers inhabit?

They wouldn't have to move to the dam area in order to be "deep"....That lake is deep as hell everywhere.   There may be current in the dam area that resembles tidal influx, and if they gravitate to that area I would assume that to be the reason.  Not just because it's deep there.

I doubt that they "enjoy" eating trout better than they enjoy eating shad, bass, or creek chubs.

You are correct, you are not a striper expert.  Nor am I, hence the precursor “WAG”....I base my comment on my observations...I will leave the why to you.

Back when I ran a trout farm I had weekly wintertime live hauls of 8-10"ers to striper guides across the 4-states. They mostly called them Magic Baits. Most of those guys had shad in live tanks year round too.

Disclaimer... I was licensed to sell my trout any way to anyone. Using trout for live bait was only legal in OK at the time. I personally never put a hook in the wrong end of one.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I can't dance like I used to.

Well now I wanna go catch one. And I’ll go and spend time, money and effort but will undoubtedly have nothing to show for it. And it will be all your fault Gavin. I hope you can live with that.

I can guide you on that trip.  No problem coming back empty😂

Yeah the guides on Lanier used trout too.  Not because they were trout, but because they were legal to use as bait under a balloon, and of the right size to target LARGE stripers.
