The noise they made! I was scared out of my mind when I was a kid. Funny thing, my girls can watch the worst monsters in these latest special effects movies and not blink an eye. But I tried to get them to watch an old episode of Twilight Zone and they were freaked out scared. LOL

The Twilight Zone had some freaky stuff.  I laughed the movies,  Saw 1 - 27 or whatever they were when my daughter was a teenager, but dang if some of the Twilight Zones would have come on I would have slept with the lights on for a week.

And at the.risk of agreeing with FW monkeys are EVIL period.  Chimps too.  Thught oddly enough Gorillas are cool and Orangutans and awesome.  Must be some childhood memories of Clint Eastwood and "Clyde".

Don't know if any of you have ever psychologically examined your fears.... but I have mine.  It's actually kind of interesting.

My spider thing was easy because my mother was petrified of spiders, and I'm sure that when I was a very small child experiencing the person that I depended on for security, completely loose her composure at the mere sight of a spider probably ingrained the feeling that NOBODY WAS IN CONTROL when a spider was nearby, and that obviously permanently implanted feelings of fear and insecurity that just can't be overcome.   Many people are afraid of snakes for the same reason. They probably had an experience where their parents were startled and freaked out about a snake when they were very young.  The drama of the situation stayed with them for a lifetime.   I'm totally cool with snakes, even poisonous ones....but SPIDERS just totally freak me out.   At one time even Daddy-Longlegs freaked me out.....but once I learned that they were not spiders, I was immediately fine with them. Weird hu?

Psychology is very interesting.  🤔

Now, the monkey thing....this is a trip..... My older brother had a stuffed monkey, and one time when nobody else was in the room I was 100% sure that I saw that monkey move on its own.    I was too young to talk and tell anyone about it....but I remember it like it was yesterday.  55+ years later, regardless of what anyone can tell me.....I simply do not trust them and don't want them anywhere near me, even though I completely understand why I feel that way.   Did the monkey REALLY move?   I dunno 😬

The things that happen and effect you as a child are way more significant than many people can imagine.   Never EVER let your very young children see you cry, or act scared, and never ever ignore their fears, or apparent concerns, and just laugh them off.   It's pretty huge and can effect their life FOREVER.    If you notice that they are fearful of something that is rediculous, then hold them and show them confidently that what they are scared of is not to be feared, and help them to gradually overcome it.

Even though my mother was a psychology major, she failed me in that regard.   But in her defense, she didn't become a psychology major until the damage was already done.

No, I think she was trying to understand why my dad was always out chasing stray tail.

She never cured him of it.  😅

Well i want to hear the story.  I had a squirrel.I had shot and put in a game pouch come.back to life and to say it was unhappy about his situation would be a gross understatement.  I have never really thought about the psychology of any of my fears, just know I have them and for the most part can control them when needed.

Ahh, well then it's likely bona-fide and reasonable,  unlike my irrational childhood carryovers.  😅

I mean be honest.....Do you think the f#(/ing monkey REALLY moved?

Knowing my mom, it was probably a Benadryl hallucination.

I love you guys 🤗

My whole life everybody has ribbed me about my monkey phobia.

Finally, a group that understands.  👍

My chimp incident happened when I was about 12.  Dad took me to the Springfield zoo, which had a chimpanzee.   The sucker spit on me.  Hit me in the left ear, which was infected within two days, crusted over and required a visit to Dr.   My only other phobia is tall bridges and buildings,  and I have over 5000 hrs of flight time.  Go figure.

No the monkey didn’t move.  But my wife has some family heirloom porcelain doll and it’s freaky little doll eyes follow you.   I put a sock on it’s head year’s ago and she hasn’t noticed yet😁
