MOPanfisher Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Since I have it I just use my tractor and blade. Couple hundred yards of driveway, then a quarter mile of pavement to where the city plows to. Which I can live with because I used to plow it all the way down to the highway. Was always able to get mom to the highway so she could work at the hosital ER, even if it meant one time being the first set of tracks on 13 hwy, thought I was a he of a tough 16 yr old kid, but was a nervous wreck by the time that was done. Trip back to pick her up was easy as the state had opened it up. That was the first 4WD we ever owned, 1980 F150 4 speed and manual lockout hubs. Terrierman 1

We all feel the same way its ok to do this. I have a gravel driveway and 1.5 more dirt and gravel miles to the closest blacktop if you are interested Jeff! Shoot, I could shovel the snow off that mile and a half road in 30 minutes give or take a minute or two. BilletHead and Terrierman 1 1

Bushbeater Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 I spent several years living in south St Louis and it was a mess when we had a large snow. Almost everyone had to park on the street so if the plows did come thru all the cars would get buried. You would have to move the snow around the cars to the curb just to get out. Then when you got back home someone would have that spot. The areas that didn't get shoveled would turn to solid sheet ice and sometimes last for months.
DADAKOTA Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 While driving through the neighborhood I noticed more driveways that were not shoveled out than those that were. Close to 70% not shoveled. A lot of these younger folks don't take much pride in their property and would rather walk in the snow to access their vehicles.
Gavin Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 I'd shovel mine, but do not have the time. Working 65-70hrs a week and my 4x4 plows right in. If someone would knock on the door and ask they would get a nice pay day. None have.
oneshot Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 My wife told her mom we are going to reroof our house. Her mom said we should reroof her place considering it is leaking. My wife said we will just reroof both places. oneshot

Maybe they just don't want to argue with God, it is Her snow, kinda disrespectful to throw it away?

Don't tell me that gender identity has backflowed into the Bible. Man was created in God's image.....so if it's accurate then God is a man (a He)! And don't you dare start with that Mother Nature BS because there's no mention of Her, or the Easter Bunny, or Father Time, in the Bible. Aristotle lacked the clout, so she didn't make the cut. 😅 tjm 1
MOPanfisher Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 When I was maybe 14 or 15 we had an old ford tractor and blade we cleared the driveway and road to highway with, grandma had a house in town and didn't drive nut like to walk up to the store and deliver groceries the the "old ladies" around so I was dispatched to her house to clear her driveway off for her. Should have taken maybe an hour. 4 hurs layer dad found Mr as I was finally headed back up the hill home. Where have you been son? Well on the way back people were standing outside waving nme down to clear their driveway, trying to pay me, most of which I could avoid but some shoved it in my lap and left me with it. Dad laughed and said, I forgot to tell you to take a different route back through town or that would happen. Helln it was one of the most fun afternoons I had in winter as a kid. Same thing would happen just not as bad when we would go down to plow her garden in spring.
