fishinwrench Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Just think of all the pheromone NOISE going on down there ! Fish#1 is transmitting that he just experienced an angler encounter. Fish#2 is bragging about finding a 7" crawdad. Fish#3 just had amazing sex with a soft-shelled turtle, and can't shut-up about it. Fish#4 just swam through a spoonbill fart. Fish#5 got a bluegill stuck in his face and is embarrassed beyond comprehension. Fish#6 wants everyone to know that he FINALLY managed to poop out a Senko. Fish#7 wants everyone to know that he heard a suspicious intermittent Whirring noise out over the MAINLAKE POINT. So DON'T GO THERE! Dang, there's just TMI floating around down there. It's mind boggling! Seriously though, has it ever occured to you that biologists sometimes have those weird dreams where they wake up thinking it was real. So they decide to write an article about it ?

Your hostility toward fisheries science amazes me....I understand how somethings can be wrong but learning isn’t....did you have a bad experience? Did you get waxed by a biologist from the back of the boat? Played net boi to a biologist when the only thing that bit you was skeeters? Fess up what happened? MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Quillback Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Fried Pacific smelt was a thing in Washington state before the smelt runs disappeared. Headed and gutted, deep fried the bones would dissolve. Johnsfolly 1

ollie Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Years back I worked with a younger kid who grew up in the hollers around Cassville and his parents or I should say his mom didn't have really any money. Said he had "minner" stew many times before! I found it hard to believe until until I heard from someone who knew him and it was true. Said they would go down to the creek and sein them since they didn't have any money to eat on. The dude was just a tad off if you know what I mean! lol "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

DADAKOTA Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Smoked lake chubs from the Great Lakes are incredibly good eating. About any place up north that sells smoked fish will have them. Hey Wrench do you get whacked with the frying pan when you show up at home with "A little chub slime on your fly"? Seth, BilletHead, fishinwrench and 2 others 5

I'm not categorically hostile to science. Good science is the greatest thing ever. Poor, or inaccurate science does more harm than good, it slows the learning curve because the longer it goes unchecked/undebunked the harder it is to undo. Bits of it become similar to weird religious beliefs that lead people down the wrong path. 45acp 1

They're right up there with any other game fish. If you've ever had pickled herring, pickled northern is better. Shad aren't much different than sardines. Throw them in a tin with some oil, probably taste about the same. -Austin
