Split Ring pliers.

I found out my split ring plies are TERRIBLE!! I need to buy a pair for small split rings. What do you recommend?

The Texas Tackle brand are really good. I got the 5” (with the orange handle), they work really well on all sizes. Got mine from Tackle Warehouse.

Don’t get the Berkley Chrome Split Ring Pliers - 6in.   
They are fine for large rings but not small ones.

I have these also.  Best you can buy.  They used to be about $12 on Amazon but their prices have gone up to about $19.

They have a little grove that holds the split ring right where it needs to be for the tooth to split it.

Lot of them on eBay usually, for a decent dollar.

They'll open everything, including the oval rings, which are abominations.

I'm perfectly happy with my Texas Tackle pliers, but should they ever die I will check out those Xurons.

OA site owner Phil Lilley used to sell a brand called Leadmaster in his marina store. This is also what the entire crew at War Eagle Lures uses to build spinnerbaits. Very, very good pliers. Around $20.
