About 10 years ago I decided I was going to join in on the carp flyfishing gig.  Tied up a bunch of flys, started stalking them on the flats, and finally did everything right on a 12-14 pounder.    After that was over with, I definitely wasn't in the mood to go after ANOTHER one.     Still have a whole box full of carp specific flys somewhere that I'll happily give away.

I did the same thing around the same time.  All of the Missouri River sloughs were murky muddy water.  But absoluteIy loaded with them. I could catch dozens with corn but not a sniff on the flies.  I tried everything.  I honestly think they couldn't see them and since they don't smell....   Well no bites.  My kids mauled them on corn though.

I can’t begin to even tell you how many I’ve force-fed a fiberglass arrow to, while we were out bow fishing back in the day LOL Rhee are about a bajillion in the Arkansas river. They fight way better on light line than 200lb test with an arrow through em 🙂 One of those European long rod finesse fisherman read that and got outraged LOL

I’ve been thinking about getting a bow for fishing.  I’ve run across those Asian carp up here while fishing.  I’m always up for a new way to “fish”😁

Look like twins. Mine felt like a hit then  a log. Then it moved,had hopes of a big LM. After a couple hard pulls I knew I was fighting other than my quarry. A good fight though but hard to lip.

               I still have a few bowfishing arrows left. Things in the reel department have changed since I was in the game but have a reel too. You can have it all if  you shoot a bazillion carp for me. @MOPanfisher was going to take the stuff but wasn't able to get with him. Free for the taking anyone. Still the stipulation is to kill all the invasivae ones you can!

I've probably stated this before....I grew up catching carp in rivers on doughball my dad made.  Its like feeding big minnows...not the most exciting method of fishing.  We ate them.  But I still like fish anyway. 😬

Carp on flies aren't usually easy, and they may not be everyone's cup o tea, but they are a LOT of fun!  Trying to get them to hit something artificial turns them into a predator, at least in my mind.  Really makes you appreciate them.  I used to try for them during my lunch hours.  Might go for weeks without a strike, then might catch 3 in 45 minutes.  Here's just a few from 2018.
