Fished out of Tom from Eagle Rock's boat today, found out my trailer has a leaking seal on the inside of one of the rear wheels so it is out of commission until it gets fixed.

It is good to have friends that will take you fishing when your boat is sidelined.

This was one of those days where we worked for our fish, never found any hot spots and would have long periods of no bites, but we did get some here and there.  We caught 30 bass (5 keepers), a couple of short walleye and a white and a nice crappie.

I caught a one pound largemouth on my first cast of the day using a spinner bait and never got another bite on the spinner bait all day, bass fishing can be a funny thing sometimes.

I don't recall catching any fish deeper than 10 feet, we did get a couple of keepers early with the boat sitting in 30 feet and throwing up onto a shelf that was out off the bank a ways, but only about 10 feet deep.

We caught a lot of our fish shallow on the Rock Crawler and the 2.8 Keitech, up in that stained water with wind on gravel and some buck brush around.  A few jig fish too.

Tom saw the WT hit 56 in some of that shallow water.

Lots of boats out there.

Tom knows that end of the lake, I assure you. He and I would run into each other on the lake and trade information. What he volunteered was always accurate, useful stuff.

i waited for everyone else to go home and then went fishing.  ended up with 5 keeps.  one of those was in the 3 lb. range.  also caught three short walleye.  as with quill, one bass came on a spinner bait and not another bite on it.  the rest all came on a 1/4 GrassJig with a buzz cut skirt, bluegill in color.  bites ranged from on the bank to 12 ft.

That's why you NEVER catch one on your first cast. NEVER. It's my only superstition in the entire world. Oh, and always hole out on #18 when playing golf ... don't even take a 2-inch gimme. Again, hole out.

BTW, there was a shiny new penny facing heads-up when I arrived at the golf course yesterday. I picked it up and put it in my pocket. Dang thing wasn't worth a crap. Played terrible.

Maybe I'm more superstitious than I think. Or just O/C. Or both.

That first cast deal ruined my trip Saturday,  Took my wife's 83 year old uncle out for short ride for him and a couple hours of fishing/ learning the new ultrex for me.  Started at 11:30 on channel swing into an island grey green water with tea stained riffles, threw a jerk bait up close to bank jerk it down paused it,  jerk pause, jerk jerk pause,  felt it load up set the hook and fought for 10 feet. Uncle said that's a good fish about that time it was gone. How a fish can not get hooked on a jerk bait amazes me.  Spent 2 more hours with nothing.  Always make short cast and get it in boat quickly, then start your day fishing.

I have learned so much from the advice and experts on this forum.... but nothing is better than this!  Thank you sir.  Will absolutely make this a part of my routine from now on because the first cast curse is not a superstition- is is a FACT
