My house is 1/4 mile off the county road where the mailbox is, up a lane and across a washout, and today the USPS brought four packages here from as far away as Maine and Pa. Three of them were early, tracking scheduled them for next Tuesday. I recall growing up and mail order taking 30-90 days was standard. Order Christmas gifts in June or July for them to get here before the holiday. Zip Codes and hub shipping fixed that, even if it looks like they are zigzagging around the country. I can order from China nowadays and have it sit out a Covid quarantine and it will still get here faster than a package from KC used to. snagged in outlet 3 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Used to order all kinds of stuff as a kid. All kinds of stuff from outdoor life and other magazines. Even bought fireworks.
Terrierman Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I mailed a check to my electric co-op from the mailbox at the end of the driveway. It wound up being used at Wal-Mart for about $300 worth of stuff. Wal-Mart had to eat that one since they didn't require any ID. Reported it to postmaster and Christian County Sheriff Department. They both acted like how dumb can you be to actually mail a check from a rural box. So I don't mail anything from that box anymore, take it to town to a drop box or the Post Office. We have a PO box for our business mail. It's often noon before mail makes it into our box. We regularly receive mail that's postmarked two weeks or longer prior to receipt. USPS stinks if you ask me.

Pay online? Usually they give you a little discount for auto bill online.
MrGiggles Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 USPS has been struggling since Trump cut their funding a while back. I haven't had much trouble with Fedex or UPS. Half the time I order something from Amazon it is taken by UPS to the post office and the post office delivers it to me a day late. There is an agreement between UPS and Post office for this. Nothing but being lazy because there might not be other deliveries in my immediate area. We are at the mercy of all these delivery systems. Don't get me started on Fed X. They really, really make me mad. Never heard so many excuses for delays. What good is tracking? Rant over! It's called Smartpost or Surepost and I hate it too. Takes twice as long. Dutch Posted April 18, 2021 Author Posted April 18, 2021 It took 3 days to get out of Texas. I also think the idiot that he put in charge is trying to sabotage the whole thing.

This is not a recent situation or attributed to any one president. They just have a bad business model and until the last 30 years relatively no competition to drive them to do better. Biggest problem is that nearly all government run entities struggle against real world competition. tjm and nomolites 2

My dog will bark or gets anxious if anything moves around here, but if I were to cut him loose he'd just run over and bring you a ball, frisbee, or stick to throw. He is nothing more than an ALERT SYSTEM after hours, and a friendly GREETING SERVICE during business hours. I've always felt that if I was living somewhere and I felt that I needed "protection".....then it was time for me to move somewhere else.
oneshot 1 Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Years ago our House was robbed . The Guy put the Dogs in the house so they wouldn't follow him. This Dog most the time is in the House he quit going over one fence because I put a Fencer up. Had my own Black and Tan Coon Hound have me down by my Throat because he had never seen me in uniform. I spoke he knew he had messed up. oneshot
