196champ Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Fishing and catching were both great this past weekend. Threw the surge shad, 3/4 oz Dixie Jet and a 2.8" swimbait on a 1/4oz head. I struggled on the bluff ends but had a ball on the gravel banks and points just outside the spawning coves. Didn't get out until 9:00AM Friday but fished until 5:00PM, they ate the top water all day long. Caught fish from just outside the bushes early to keeping the boat in 30'-40' 2-3 casts off the bank later in the day. Also had several fish spooning docks on Saturday when the sun came out a bit. Hopefully these derby guys go into hibernation before too long. The lack of respect and on the water etiquette has gone completely out the window. Saturday morning was a complete sh*t show. The excuse of "I'm in a tournament bro" and "This was my #1 spot" is hardly an excuse. Maybe a "Hey we are in a tournament and would like to fish this point, Do you mind?" would go a long way. I would happily fish elsewhere and leave it be for you. Instead they pull in and take the silent approach within 20 yards of you, pretty unbelievable. dan hufferd, cheesemaster, merc1997 Bo and 10 others 13

Bill Babler Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Adrian Avena did that to me a year or two ago. Thought he was going to cry. He just kept whining and whining till I let him have it. Total cry baby. But, he did not pull in on me. Just sat down Indian style on his deck and whined. You can see what derby they are fishing and threaten to turn them in and they will move for unsportsmanlike conduct. Total DQ. Wheeler came flying in on me over near point 6 and I was fishing a gravel point and catching some nice SM. He waved but came in at half throttle 12 feet from my boat! I did not wave back and I did not wave back with my finger! crazy4fishin 1
DADAKOTA Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Hate to say it, but the glory boys have no more right to a spot than you do. Whoever is there first controls the spot. It would cost them a couple of rods at a minimum for me to just leave a spot. It is called common courtesy. Playing for pay makes them no better than anyone else. eyedabassman, snagged in outlet 3 and crazy4fishin 2 1
196champ Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 This happened several times to me Friday and Saturday. This guy didn't really bother me, he can have the bank fish as i was several casts off. Sorry i got on the water before the derby kicked off Saturday. After an hour of silence I lost my cool when he pulled between myself and the spot i had been catching them on. He then apologized profusely and said he was in panic mode when he pulled up and i was there, as this was the only spot he found fish..... Have that conversation in a civil manner right when you pull up and i would have gladly left. Quillback, magicwormman, Royal Blue and 2 others 5
Bill Babler Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Skeet also pulled in on me a couple of years ago on Campers Point. Had a client jerk one right in front of him. Total BULL PUCKY. crazy4fishin 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
fishinwrench Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 If those guys are so confident that where YOU are is where they NEED to fish......Then since it's all about MONEY.... maybe they need to carry a few Benjamin's in their pocket to persuade others to move elsewhere. It isn't like paying locals to hold a spot for them has never been done, so what's the difference? TRRANGER and dan hufferd 1 1

Go sit on point and collect $100.00 bucks then move to the next one and wait for another pro to show up and collect again. Genius Wrench. You and Wylie Coyote. 🤣 196champ 1
dan hufferd Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 They don't bother the walleye boat guys, they just blow by at 70 mph. It might be the boat you all are fishing from. Get you a ragged out aluminum boat with bad carpet, they will just blow right by. techo and TRRANGER 2
