willyfish Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 I was looking to buy a St Croix premier spinning rod I could use for crappie. If you go on the St Croix website they seem to be out of stock on a lot of their product. Bass pro doesn't have anything either. Curious if the virus might of had an effect on the rod building industry. I know building materials are in high demand and the cost has gone up on everything from 2x4's to gas and propane and everything in between.
bferg Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 The entire supply chain is a train wreck. Shortage of shipping containers...lots of ships stack up outside ports waiting to get unloaded. Once stuff gets unloaded trucking is a major problem. End to end there are issues... its going to take some time to unwind it all. Bass Pro here in Rogers has hardly any fishing rods in stock. dtrs5kprs 1
Members Brennan Posted June 9, 2021 Members Posted June 9, 2021 I’m a St Croix fan. Don’t know where you’re located, but Rogers Sporting Goods in Liberty Mo (Kansas City area) has a lot in stock. I use Avids for all my trout stuff, but have been thinking of adding a rod specific for crappie as well. Lilley’s Landing makes a great rod as an alternative. Tremendous value. You might consider checking them out as well. crazy4fishin 1
MOPanfisher Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 A few months ago I searched high and low for a particular Mojo rod. Finally found it at Midway of all places.

You never know what they will have. I was looking for a Curado 150 DC none of the regular places had one. Midway showed up and I ordered from them.
fishinwrench Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Sadly St.Croix started going to hell before anyone had even heard of Covid-19. Really bummed me out.

I had a broken one I sent back a couple months ago and they were out of it. The lady said they’ll ship me one it comes in. She said everything they produce is sold direct to consumer or taken by retailers. I had my new warranty rod in 9 days.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 On a side note I put a new tip on the old one and use it for a jerk bait rod. @fishinwrenchthinks they’re going in the dumpster but the lady told me business couldn’t be better. But then again he is a certified arm chair quarterback on a multitude of things. So there’s that😁 96 CHAMP 1
fshndoug Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I know you can't buy their rod blanks anymore to make your own rods. I would have to agree with Wrench on this one.
