OAF Forum Rules - Revisited

I've had some good conversations with a couple of members here and we fell like it's time to lay down rules - again - and enforce them - something that hasn't been done in the past.

I admit, I'm a softy.  So I'm not going to be the one doing the dirty work.  Rick has volunteered @Terrierman to enforce the rules.

There shouldn't be much drama in fishing, right?  Well...

So here's the rules:

1.  No profanity - people purposely misspell words to get around that all the time.  I would give one warning and then ban the offender for a week.  Next offense a month.  Third offense permaban.  All in the open for everyone to see.

2.  No politics and/or religion on the main forum.  There are only a few people that ignore that.  I would PM those people, and let them know you're serious.  If it keeps up after that then  I would give one warning and then ban the offender for a week.  Next offense a month.  Third offense permaban.  Again, all in the open for everyone to see.

3.  Personal insults should be off limits if they're not already.  With the same enforcement actions I suggested above.

This is a pretty good fishing forum and it's visited by almost 40,000 "users" each month.  But clearly, a vast majority do not post and have not registered.

Thank you for making this a fun place to come and share fishing stuff.

So no casual BSing amongst friends, no friendly jabs, private jokes, or any attempts at humor. Just business related to helping each other find and catch fish, kill deer&turkeys, fix their boats....and that sort of thing.    Basically no expressing of emotion, no griping about wake boats, ocean liners, holding fish out of the water, 4-stroke outboards, bowfishers, giggers, or litterers.  

And if someone DOES complain about something or someone, and you feel compelled to defend the organization, defendant, or the position..... just DON'T, and quietly exit the room immediately.    

You're not sitting streamside amongst friends anymore.....you are in a courtroom, either observing or serving jury duty.       

Boy oh boy, guys are gonna break their fingers trying to get in here to check things out daily, ain't they?  😂 

Sounds like a recipe for ghosting the place.   But ok 👍

Just a couple of quick comments - Nobody needs an explanation of misspelling profanity.   No go now.

Discussions of various agencies, MDC, DNR, COE, AGFC to me are fair game.  Bringing elected officials or how people vote into a discussion are political and won't flush anymore. 

Personal insults are hard to define but easy to spot.  No more empty suit comments or similar.

Nobody said joking around and having fun is a problem.  I do it all the time.  So do carry on and have a good time.

I don't have an axe to grind here other than respect.  For Phil, his website and hopefully you all for each other.

I need to watch myself. I always asked Phil why he never wore a life jacket in in his One Cast videos and now he does and so do his assistant film crew. I got kicked off of Flyfishing Taneycomo for telling Idoux to quit posting pictures of his wading boot in the water and a trout laying out of the water. I just didn't know he was so sensitive. Heck I didn't even call him a name.
