curtisce Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Not hard to get Marty interested in fishing for temperates even if it doesn't include a flyrod. Met by the dam in near darkness. Launched and headed south looked over a few spot and ended up down around KK Island. Moved around with the trolling motor casting blindly. No success and very little to give us much hope. All a sudden Marty yells and I turn and fish are hitting the surface right next to the boat. We quickly boat 2 hybrids each, Marty lost a few as well. Then it died. The wind picked up where it was tough to move around and the trolling motor would barely hold us so we moved down the Pomme arm to get some protection.Saw 2 old guys in the area we wanted to fish catching small whites right near the shore. We moved in along the shore took alwile but we started catching whites, keeper size but we let them go. That area slowed so we moved on. Caught more hybrids and white on typical windblown banks, shallow wanted the bait within a foot or two of the shoreline. Rattle traps and Kietech worked well. surprised on the Kietech because the water was stained brown probably 8" viz. Ended up near 7 hiway bridge and got into them good there. stayed there from about noon till we left at 2. Ended up with guessing 60 total with 15-20 mutts. dpitt, Ham, Johnsfolly and 8 others 11 The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
BilletHead Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Great day indeed. IMO it was off the charts. Wind and cloud cover kept them biting and you all know if there were not whitecaps the fly rod would of been shooting line to those fish. I was worn slap out. Hard to get out of bed. There was no sitting up to get out of the sack. It was more of a roll out when the alarm sounded. Was in bed at 7:45 last night. Face felt like it was on fire, Windburn! Paying the piper for that trip but well worth it :). nomolites, Johnsfolly, grizwilson and 1 other 4 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Everything is calm & quiet, the phone isn't ringing, and nobody is pulling into the driveway. There's just something about pissing off the deck while looking at the moon & stars, that's sets life straight. fshndoug 1
