Quillback Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 I am home now, came home last night, decided I wasn't going to fish today. Ran into those storms on HWY 412 east of Springdale, it really came down for a few minutes. Yakked a stretch of water with Ham yesterday, my first time in a yak and it took me some getting used to. Felt like an elephant on a skateboard for a while. Once I finally started feeling comfortable with the yak, the wind started blowing upriver, hard enough that it would blow you upstream if you let it. I spent most of the last two hours paddling back to the ramp into the wind and it wore me out. I caught 8 trout I think, nothing big, but they were all well colored, hard fighting fish. All rainbows except for one cutt. Took me a while to start catching fish, they would not eat a 1/16th oz jig, and Ham finally prodded me into fishing a 1/32 oz jig he had given me, and I finally started getting some. Once that wind started howling, fishing that 1/32 became a chore, but they just would not eat that 1/16. Caught a couple behind Riley's before meeting up with Ham, and some of the guys ferried over to the big island behind Riley's and they did well, but they can fill you in on that. Some big goldens in that stretch of water which caught their attention. 😄 Sorry, no pics from me, wasn't taking my camera on the yak. grizwilson, JestersHK, Daryk Campbell Sr and 2 others 4 1
Quillback Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Forgot to add - Couple of people bait fishing off the ramp when we launched, they were doing well, they certainly had enough for dinner. If a person wants to soak bait and catch fish, you can certainly do it in these low flows. Quite a few wade fishermen out there too. Speaking of ramp fish, Ham caught a nice rainbow, his biggest fish of the day, off the Cotter ramp while I was backing my truck down the ramp. Johnsfolly, grizwilson and JestersHK 3
JestersHK Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Have some pics to upload from today, highlights were a 20in brown 17 or 18in brown, a golden, and a nice full finned colored up bow. Also there may or may not be video of a boat with a big hole in it... Daryk has some food pics which were amazing again tonight Daryk Campbell Sr, Johnsfolly and BilletHead 3

gotmuddy Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Jigfest 2021 is a memorable one for sure. Thursday afternoon @JestersHK and I fished at norfork for a couple hours, and on his second cast caught a 20 inch cutty on 2lb test. Friday when I got back I fished at Buffalo city. I forgot to plug my trolling motor in and when I bent down to plug it in I bumped a log and fell in the river. Thankfully it was only waist deep and it was 70 degrees. I laughed for 5 minutes in the boat and caught a few small stockers. Saturday @Daryk Campbell Sr and I started at norfork because they were running 2 units. We fished until the battery died and then we packed up and headed to reds. Fishing was good until water from norfork reached us then it just shut down. We came back to Buffalo city and fished below the confluence and caught several fish then decided we wanted to try the other side of the island which ended badly. The sun glared in our eyes and we beached the boat and in the process knocked a sizable hole in the boat and ended the weekend. I still had a great time. BilletHead, Jthawks, Terrierman and 5 others 8 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
