Same as it's been my entire life. Catch a fish, then catch another. I burned myself out on goals and numbers and where I placed when I was much younger. I understand the drive and I get it. Sometimes I even miss it.

I'm going to spend more time on the water. That's easy once it get's warm. My wife got in a kayak for the first time late in the summer and she is heavily addicted to just floating along while I do whatever it is that I am doing. 

I have to try some different things. I've turned into a monotonous bum. 

And I'm going to use more flies this year for smallmouth. The better fish I battled at the end of summer all came on a fly. They didn't respond to the regular lures that everyone is throwing. I've found that I'm really not that bad at casting while sitting in a canoe or kayak. Now keep in mind it's not bad from the already horrible casting that I do normally. But practice makes perfect so I think I will be as good as I have ever been if I focus on that this year.

And I might take a pic or two. Actually building my own creation to put the GoPro down in some root wads and some deep holes or ledges. Had the whole lighting system designed around a specific LED bulb. Guess what doesn't exist in the world right now?

I guess I have gotten completely burnt out on gear fishing, it just doesn't excite me like it used to.  I thought it was just a passing phase..... but it has been a thing with me for almost 2 years now and I'm beginning to think the passion is just gone. 

If it isn't flyfishing then I just really don't care about it anymore.   I even exit right out of Phil's One Cast vids as soon as I see them holding a spinning rod. 😂 

So my "goal" for 2022 might just be to sell the bass boat and all the "gear", and reinvest into a couple more flyfish-friendly boats and some more flyfish friendly toys.

You'd think it would happen by sheer accident at some point. The fact that it has happened to darn near everybody that has ever fished Taneycomo out of my boat is just ridiculous at this point.

Beyond ridiculous, like some crazy statistical anomaly hahaha.

You better remember the peanut M&Ms and first peanut goes in the water brother or you're doing it wrong.

I'm fine with not catching a 20" brown next week as long as my name is at the top of the leader board again on Saturday. 😁

If you can't blame the netman who can you blame😉 ?!?

Seth you should offer a guide service similar to DJ's one fish guarantee. Except you would guarantee that the client has the opportunity at a 20+' brown trout and that the guide won't catch it from under the client 😁.

Seriously it has to happen for you, hopefully soon.
