And you can't lock out a trout like you can a bass by holding their bottom jaw.  I bought some 9" needle nose pliers but still....

The ol' gill squeeze works pretty good.   I wonder if that actually harms the fish ?

Doesn't seem to.

Jerk baits scare me, but I fish them.

I agree especially when there is more than one treble on a bait and that fish is thrashing around. It can be a nightmare of potential hook removal points on your hands, arms, legs....

Someone here i think maybe JD posted the crick hopper I think with one hook in a finger on the right hand and the other hook in a finger on the left... that one sticks with me...

Sorry about the ear, I need to wear eye pro at night... lots of close calls and I've stuck a wooly bugger in the ol bald head once.  Thankful barb was pinched.  Left a good dent and bruise

Thanks Pete for the confirmation, and yeah I agree I'd be in a serious pickle doing that at night in the water lol.

Makes me shudder thinking about it :)

Back in the winston/joe camel day we had a free kayak  .Fishing in the strip pits, in very narrow strips.  One early morning after a doe and great buck jumped OVER us  I set the hook on a monster bass(my story).    Anyways it spit the hook... and I ducked the floating Rapp coming back at me.  My roommate then and great fishing buddy caught it in the mouth and ear.  I was getting ready to cast again when I heard stop plus you know.. Long hike pulling the kayak out and trip to joplin to have it removed.

1 More... Solo trip in my canoe down the Manistee River.   Picking blueberrys  as i fish along the bank.  A monster garter snake attacked me and I buried a # 0 mepps  in my hand when i escaped that beast.  It was about HUGE.   About 6".
