Hula grubs?

Used them all the time when I first retired back here in the 90's. Usually fished them in a light rocker head, single wire hook weed guard. Either slowly dragging or very small hops.  Some days it seemed to catch them better than a jig or tube. Don't know why the fell out of my rotation, I've still got a lot in storage.  I'm sure they will get you bit. Looks like you got good colors there.

Pre little brown jig, Shakey head, and Ned they were staples. Our entire club threw them, especially on bluffs up the rivers, and especially in cold water. We also used to put them straight down into deep trees, when we had trees.

Was just a killer in the fall. 1/8 to 3/8 wire guard heads like the Chompers heads, or football heads.

I have a pile of these in a ziploc bag laying in the shed. For whatever reason, I just quit using them a few years ago. Cinnamon purple jelly was always my favorite color. It seemed to work in dingy and clear water. Maybe I'll dig them out and give them another try this year.

Never heard of that color...  EDit:  It's a Chomper color.

Tear the skirt of and the 5 inch Chompers version makes a good "scented" bladed jig trailer

I got back seated by one of my wife's friends husband at Tablerock in May one year.  He absolutely tore them up on a garlic Chomper.  He paralleled the bank for 2 days.  I caught a few but he never allowed me to cast ahead of the boat even while he messed with his lure or ate a snack.   I take guys fishing all the time and would never do that.  I go out of my way to give them an angle and fresh water to fish.
