The last time this country was energy independent was probably when wind power was king. We got enough windbag politicians  to power the world, we'd do even better if we could convert   bs to joules.

I think a small nuclear reactor in the back yard would work. It's clean and environmentally friendly...just a little one.

those have been available for 15 years but they would never let us have one.

I think with adequate funding into nuclear we could figure out a way to bypass the making of steam to turn a turbine and come up with a way to make a solar panel that directly absorbs x-rays.

If we never try and develop anything better we will always be using energy that creates wars and death. For most people electric vehicles is the way to go. However the ignorance that the people profiting off of oil have created will be hard to overcome.

Are there components in creating and storing electricity that make it dirty? Oh yes, No question. But if we give it a chance and increase the funding in R&D for it then we can reduce that too. Maybe the subsidies that we give the oil companies should be used for this.

And please, please, please, if you are going to bash electricity would you at least have some basic understanding of physics?

I'm no electrical engineer, but I work with a couple.

I hope they can make it work, or something clean and sustainable.

I hope someone cracks the code to recycle lithium, in a cost effective clean way.

I don't like where and how we get lithium now, at least as far as I understand it.

Well we have done it again, we are way down the rabbit hole. But I like it.

Energy loss making electricity, energy loss transporting electricity, energy loss charging the battery, energy loss as battery sits between uses,  all good ways to save energy and then we can start over. That just leaves the environmental impact of battery building and disposal.

When they find a way to solar power EVs directly or  use the tides to generate electricity so we aren't using fuels to create an energy loss in the saving of energy, it will make EVs more attractive. as it is they just shift the carbon fuel use from oil to coal in an already overloaded grid. Nuclear generation is sure cleaner in the present tense, but, what will we do with the billions of backyard reactors when they quit? Landfills? Shelf in the basement?

ahh, if we could use the wind of motion at 70mph to power generators on the EV itself to go even faster making even more wind speed and creating even more electricity ...

Biden didn't want to hurt the UAWs feelings.

They don't want intelligent people involved. Doners with their hands deep in their pockets is the only way to get the information they want to hear.
