aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Might have been the windiest day i have ever fished. Havent been for a while, every time im in town the weather suck. Today i decided im going rain or shine. I moved around a bit saw water from 49-54, all my crappie were caught in the colder water no more than 5-8 feet deep on brush. Boat was never deeper than 13ft. all were caught on Bobby Garland baby shad, used a lot of different natural colors, all seemed to work the same. 10 female and 5 males. 1/32 ounce jigs were the ticket but a pain in the butt in all that wind. No need for livescope today, i was just fishing laydowns, i couldnt have used it if i wanted since its on the troller and it took everything i had to keep the boat from blowing everywhere. Garmin Force Spotlock was absolutely horrible. I thought i had it fixed but then i did the most recent updated and its worse than ever. When i hit lock it hits reverse at least 20ft now, before it was only 10 ft. In between brush piles i threw a G5 red Crankbait and the bass were absolutley crushing it, i bet i made less than 100 casts and caught 15, only 2 keeps but i was more on the hunt for a limit of crappie in 25+ mph wind. Saw some other guys catching them every other cast too Terrierman, tho1mas, grizwilson and 8 others 11
dtrs5kprs Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Really nice work in that wind. One of our other OA friends sent some pics of the rollers down by the dam. Yee hee haw, no thank you.
m&m Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Wait, I thought the wind is your friend. First the theory of the Color-C-Lector fell apart, then the barometer theory fell apart and now the theory of wind. I’ll never catch another keeper until I reprogram my mindset. Maybe I’ll just stick to skinny water and enjoy casting. Mike cheesemaster, dtrs5kprs, Quillback and 2 others 3 1 1
Bill Babler Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Anyone that even thinks about updating any Garmin unit of any kind or using Active Captain is going to totally regret it. PERIOD. Spoke with not only the former regional rep. last week and my tech and both said the Active Captain App. and the update program are total failures. There has been problems from the start, even hacking. There is only TWO THINGS you can do if the Force fails. Totally shut power down even unhooking the positive conection on the battery and then restarting. If that doesn't work, repare the foot and the hand held control, with the motor. If that doesn't work have them send you a new unit. My tech said no matter what they tell you over the phone at tech support on updates, DON'T DO IT. If it's not broke don't fix it, if it is broke request a new one. There are still bugs with the Force that need worked out. My tech says 99% is way to much software. The premise behind this was good in they thought they could make an upgradable evolving product that would continue to get better thru software updates. This has failed miserably. Mechanically it's great, and very seldom a problem. magicwormman and dtrs5kprs 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Deadstream Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Ha, have a friend that works in Olathe KS for Garmin as a "software supervisor". Makes 150+. Can't catch a fish to save his life. Said updates are needing updating always. But he can get me a good discount. The GPS he hooked me up with is a POS. He offered a update. dtrs5kprs 1

My Force has worked great no problems, I have not updated and will not…..I updated my unit and LS and I have total regret , all cause of that darn color limit that was over hyped . I lose my baits constantly that I didn’t before and now my unit sometimes won’t shut off I have to unhook the power to get it to shut off . Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Bill Babler Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Feel your pain Ron. You just can't mess with them thru updates and Active Captain. Mine is perfect going on 3 years. I did have to repare the foot pedal and the force once. I can see a tiny swim bait at 60' on Live scope. The tech when he was installing my new units and thru hull transducer did update it this Winter with his laptop, but not using or thru Active Captain. Said the new units were symbiotic and would update the existing units. Really Lowrance hit it hard right in the head. Not any trouble with their motor or graphs and they work great. Maybe a shade under the Live scope, but not much. I have a live scope plus ordered so we will see how good it is. grizwilson, Ron Burgundy and dtrs5kprs 3 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

I updated my 126sv once with a SD card and no issue, this last time I couldn’t wait for the SD card to arrive so I updated through ActiveCaptain and now have issue. Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 10, 2022 Author Posted April 10, 2022 The problem is, when you call tech support the first thing they want you to do is update the software. I updated again last night and still has the same problem, dang thing hits reverse every time i engage spot lock and it hauls in reverse. I guess ill be calling them and see what happens from there dtrs5kprs 1
dtrs5kprs Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 Bummer that everyone is having problems with the updates, but I appreciate getting the heads up about it. Was planning to update my graph this week, scratch that.
