The surface  fly I use 80% of the time and have probably caught more SMB on than any/all other flies- https://www.jackgartside.com/step_gurgler.htm  The foam sheets I use are from Dollar Tree, Walmart , etc. I don't think color matters too much, but white is easy to see, for me and for the fish. I've never had much luck with standard poppers, as in 46 years I have never caught one bass on them, so have no recommendation.  I probably don't have the patience to fish poppers correctly though, because they are popular.

Your Clousers and Woolly Buggers are a good start and with a Gurgler might be all I'd  fish for most of  a season. The SJ worm is like the poppers, in about 30 years of occasionally trying them have never caught a single fish. I also use a simple white or yellow marabou crappie jig in 1/32 oz in places where I can stand on a bank or riprap and flip rather than cast it into a deep hole, fe, bridge abutment.

Look up alvin dedeaux popper on YouTube. Super easy and very effective. Also that little frog fly I came up with is dynamite.

Is that frog a creek/river smallie catcher or all around black bass?

It will catch a lot of things. Mostly bass but small enough for big gils. I'm going to try on trout this spring as well

My suggestion would be to send me you mailing address and then wait patiently by the mailbox. I can get some stuff together in the next week or so and get it in the mail. 

I'll make sure it's all stuff that won't stress that 6 wt too much and make it fairly easy to cast. I also include some gurglers since I'm the only one that ties them correctly. 😁

I'd recommend upgrading your reel to the Lamson Liquid for the extra $17 or whatever.  I had an Ion, and felt it was heavy.  The Lamson feels lighter and I've had nothing but great performance from Lamson reels.  Just my opinion, and fly reels may not matter much...but I do think you'll like it better.

          And early in the thread I said same thing. We can fix a guy up. Fly tyers are just that way.
