I can tell you, many. Surprisingly it is not the local ones to St Louis. I got 2 pre recorded video boxes that were personalized to me. Similar to a talking picture frame crossed with a tablet computer. They are color screens, framed and have video that plays. The lawyer addressed me by name, and mentioned the accident in the video. I've gotten magnets, brochures, and other junk. One firm makes sure to reach out to me monthly or semi monthly reminding me of how long it's been and assuring me that the insurance company is dragging its feet, and that their specific firm will be able to make a difference.

But, none are really addressing my healing, or loss of daily activities or how different therapies, or emotional support groups, or family support, etc will assist in my getting back to where I was prior to the event. Just how much money they have gotten awarded in the past.

To be honest, 20 million dollars isn't gonna do me any good if I don't get to walk properly again to be able to hike into some tough spots for fishing or portaging the canoe I havent been able to work on. Or if my PTSD continues and I am still to scared to drive because the lanes seem so much narrower nowadays. Etc.

Sorry, I know you weren't looking for a soapbox, but it really is tough, when many see the financial "gain" potential, here I am just wanting to be able to sleep and walk like I did in mid August.

Editing to add, Im sorry it reads like a slam or complaining about your question Rick. I'm not,  your curiosity is valid.

Keep asking any questions,  as RPS mentioned,  yall are all family to me.  I'm an open book.

I've never been through anything remotely like what you are dealing with.  I have to say I'm not surprised about the focus on money and not so much on you.  Thanks for taking the time to give an honest answer.  After they pay for your medical expenses, lost income and all the tangibles, it has to be a heck of a problem to figure out how to deal with the intangibles.  Still wishing you the best.

Major milestone VICTORY. Yea, I got to the creek!!! That's been my "goal". Sure, walking is great. Sure getting to be able to exercise is needed, and nice. But, for mental health, and to do more than feel like I'm surviving, my goal was to get to the creek. It took longer than I'd have liked. It was difficult, and I used a walking stick. But I MADE IT!!

YEA! Go Daryk go. Look how far you've come since the accident. Now we are going to see how far you are going to go. Before long you are pushing @gotmuddy off of gravel bars

Congrats on recovering from a terrible accident. I joined this thread really late but since reading through it I have been praying for strength and healing for you and all involved. Glad the creek goal has been met and am sure any challenges you meet in the future will be hurdled and handled. Amen and Tight Lines. TR

Well, today's update, we finally replaced our van.  6 and a half months after the accident.   I've been slowly trying to get comfortable to drive.

                  Purdy,

Guess that old saying you have to get right back on that bike. I would be spooked. Congrats on the new ride Daryk.
