Champ188 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 BFL had 235 boaters + amateurs last year for a tournament that had to be rescheduled. They'll scare the heck out of 250 again if they don't hit it. Hopefully, since there are very few bass actively spawning, all of the boat traffic will have the few that are very skittish and hard to catch. It's not ideal, but I can live with some prespawn/postspawn fish being hauled around the lake. But it irks me to no end --- and always will --- to see the people who claim to be all in for taking care of our fisheries schedule tournaments on top of the spawn and defend that practice as harmless. It is NOT harmless to take hundreds of bass off their beds and no amount of pro-tournament rhetoric (spin) is going to change that one bit. This is not an attack on the Big Bass Tour --- it's my conviction about all spawn-season tournaments regardless of name or number of participants. If we really love our fish like we say, let's stop the springtime tournament insanity. Hey Johnny, step up and REALLY GIVE SOMETHING BACK to the sport that made you a billionaire ... at least start the discussion around what can be done to independently study, discuss and potentially take action to protect the fishery where your signature lodge stands. Quillback Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Heard 2nd hand that Viola and Sweetwater parking lots on the Kings were full up with people parking on the access roads. Crappie fishermen mainly. It is going to be a busy lake this weekend. crazy4fishin and dtrs5kprs 2
Champ188 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I don't always agree with what he has to say, but Randy Blaukat hits the nail on the head in this episode of his Intuitive Angling channel on YouTube: dtrs5kprs 1

It is the same when he complains about all of the development. It seems like everyone just wants their own personal table rock lake that they don't have to share with everyone else. If you fish on table rock, or use table rock lake at all, YOU are part of the problem, myself included. Everyone wants to vacation there, hence the bulldozing of hillsides for resorts. Everyone wants to fish there, hence the tournament overload and fishing guides galore. Everyone wants to live there, hence the real estate carnival down there. Yet, those are the exact same people who complain about too many pleasure boaters, houses and fisherman. It is a catch 22. waterpossum 1
fishinwrench Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I've ranted about this myself in the past. The number of tournaments is completely out of control. The purpose of having to aquire a regatta permit is ...... What? Anyone have an answer to that? If you don't agree that the number of tournaments being allowed now is excessive, then at what point would you agree that it is excessive? If the tournament organizers don't begin to recognize the ridiculousness of what they are doing.....and knock it off......then SOMEONE (water patrol, or MDC) is going to have to start stepping on toes. waterpossum, Champ188 and evilcatfish 3
