willyfish Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 What have you guys used in the past and what is your preferred setup for cranking and trolling . I’m not running livescope just some basic lowrance HDS graphs. Just curious about brand batteries you trust .
Bill Babler Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I run Pro-Guide. Mostly AGM’s up to 31 series. Currently I have switched to lithium and they do come with a price tag, but performance is simply excellent with very little weight. Dewayne French and nomolites 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Dewayne French Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I have had Pro-Guides installed in 10+ basscat boats I have had since early 2000's. I have only had one problem and it was taken care of by them. Only why to go, I have not tried the lithiums, but have heard great things, just like Bill says.
Ranger Z22 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 also on Bill's recommendation, all (4) 31 series AGM Pro Guide. I was a bit concerned have not had best of luck with Pro Guide, but no trouble! Champ188 1
Dutch Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 I had Lowrance HDS units and ran them off my series 31 cranking battery. Within a year they killed it grave yard dead. I got a warranty replacement and within a year the same thing happened. After I traded boats I switched to Humminbird and they killed my cranker. I went to the Batteries + X2 for a cranking battery. It is a lot more powerful than a regular series 31. If you belong to Sam’s club they usually have good deals on quality agms.
Maverickpro201 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 I just use Walmart's because there are Walmart stores everywhere. Put separate one in for the 3 graphs and livescope. Works great, got over 5 years out of trolling motor battery's and were still going strong. But decided to replace them before they went poop while fishing
Members Brennan Posted August 16, 2023 Members Posted August 16, 2023 My previous boat I had the batteries plus x2. It did a great job (2d sonor x2, no livescope)……until…..it quit taking a charge 2years in. It was replaced over the counter no questions asked. The second x2 performed flawlessly. Now I have a new BassCat Puma. AGM 31 pro guide starting and 3 12v lithium pro guide 75ah. And a power pole charge. Wow! Amazing to have all your batteries full or almost full when you get off the water. Comes at a steep price tag though. I used to run 3 of the 31 sized Sam’s club Duracell AGM batteries and they never gave me a problem…..except for weighing half a ton.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Ive had lithium right at about a year. I decided to be a guinea pig and try out some from amazon. I like to troll using my trolling motor for walleye and deep cycle batteries would only last 2-4 hours. The ones i ot from amazon are called Chins. i put 2 100ah in and they have been great so far, ive trolled for 6 hours and they were still going strong. Didnt even take that long to charge them when i got home. Ive read and read till my eyes couldnt take it anymore about batteries. For the most part they are all made in China and the different companies slap their label on it and call it their own. Just like half the lead batteries out there lots of them are made by Deka but different companies put their own branding on them Champ188, nomolites and snagged in outlet 3 3
Members Wesley Posted August 19, 2023 Members Posted August 19, 2023 I have used Walmart batteries for 30 years. Last week I trolled 4 hours before battery gave out. Remember very few battery manufacturers. Honeywell makes most of the batteries for all brands. As far as starting I have never used a marine battery. I use a car battery in all of my 4 boats. More power. Never a problem. snagged in outlet 3 1
