I compete with no one but myself.

I compete against the wind, the current....or lack thereof, the boat, the flys/lures that wish to do me harm if my casting stroke becomes subpar, and of course the fish.

I win just barely enough to keep me playing the game.  🤞

Above is my official vote for....................... Most Ignorant Post Of The Year on OAF.

That's pretty special coming from the most ignorant poster on oaf. 🤣🤣

Also...pro bass fisherman don't work that hard.  They fish a lot, thats a bout it.  Ask any of them if they'd rather work a real job and they'd say nope.  They left they're cushy office job making 250k a year to fish professional.  Hardly what I'd call a "grind".  Give me a freaking break!

I know Ham and he works harder than anyone on here.

I appreciate that Marty, but I don’t know that would say that.

And fishes harder, I'd reckon. :)

Fishes more obsessively (FIFY)

Look those guys choose to fish professionally, so that’s on them. But it ain’t easy street by any means. The tourny days are the easy days. The travel, the time away from family, the stress of trying to win and secure sponsors, the daylight to dark practices, going out and fishing hard in all weather.

I wanted to fish professionally ; I wanted to go all over the country and learn all the techniques to catch bass in all those different environments,  but I wasn’t willing to sacrifice my marriage and my family. I would not have handled the stress well. I could not have kept a level keel and it would have eaten away at me that I wasn’t providing for my children as well as I could have at a real job.

I have a lot of respect for how hard they work. It is very physically and mentally demanding and it takes a toll on their bodies. If you think it is easier than your average day job, you’re ignorant or in denial. They aren’t necessarily the best fishermen and certainly they aren’t all model citizens. I still think it’s a much harder gig than many realize.

Back when it mattered to me I finished 9th at the state level, 13th in the regionals, and the next-step event that I qualified for was at Lake Havasu.    Fished hard for 5 1/2 days there and didn't learn anything.   My first daughter was born between then and the off-limits period, and I knew that if I didn't do well at Havasu that I wouldn't even have the funds to get myself and my boat back home.   And "back home" was where this beautiful little baby that deserved responsible parents was at.

My boat mechanic was getting way more of my money than anyone else was.....So I decided to become THAT GUY.     It was a hard choice, but one that I'm really glad that I made.    So is that little girl ❤️  I'm way prouder of what she has become than I ever would have been of myself.....even if I had eventually become the best bass angler in the world.

Danny Correa won that Havasu event.....and I'll bet there's only one or two people here that even know who he is. And that is sad to me because I know first hand what he went through to get there.....and he doesn't have $#!t to show for it.

NO IT IS NOT!!! tell that to a landscaper, factory worker or roofer.  Fishing if only physically demanding if you are way overweight or out of shape.

It’s not one or the other. Those jobs are physically demanding, but other jobs are too. You are either completely unaware of the subject you are commenting on or you’re trolling.
Have Fun, I’m done on this one.

Any activity is work if you do it as  a job. I have no doubt that fishing could be made tiresome. But, I have zero empathy for these guys, they set the rules up this way and they could easily change them to 4 hours per day or 6 hours per day, or what  would be the  right thing; to take the first 5 keepers and stop.  Tough or Greedy?  who forces them to play?

What do you mean by that? I've posted reports, and pictures on this website for about 10 years now.  Does someone need to vouch for me here?

Not at all, bro.    The tone of your posts suggests that you believe to have a valid point. But the content of the posts verify that you definitely don't.

I was just looking out for ya.....making sure you weren't having a stroke or something. 👍
