Dutch Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Jeff and I waited until 9 before launching. It was 31° with a light breeze. It was also very cloudy which made for a less than comfortable situation. We went down slowly and were blown by some dude in a white Champion, like he was fishing a derby. We hit a few spots on the way down and had a bit of luck. It was too cold to measure fish. Our best guess is 4 keepers, 1 lmb, 1 smb, 2 spots. We had 8 others. The water temp varied from 46-49° depending on the location. The air temp was 31-39°. The sun didn’t come out until 1 and we left at 2. I called the Springfield weather bureau on the way home. They said 40° with an 8 mph wind making a 34° wind chill. No wonder I was cold all day. Quillback Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I could not have fit on any more layers of clothes, and I was still cold. Brrrrr..... bfishn and m&m 2
Bill Babler Posted January 4 Posted January 4 You boys are hard core. I do know of a couple of TR Lake guide trips that went out today. After Buster’s service several of those guys were headed for the pond. I know Phil Stone was out fishing FFS on a guide trip and from what he told me it was pretty amazing. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I’m just itching to go. If I was at the condo I would be out on Taney. But I’m not😐 Maybe get down there next week. Quillback 1

Bassin4fun Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I had to replace all three batteries in my boat this past week. They just wouldn't charge or hold a charge anymore. I am all set to go this weekend and hoping this colder weather will have helped the jerkbait bite. 😁 Although, I am going to spend some time looking for those deep bass too. I have only been able to catch from a school I saw on my graph on one occasion and that was during the summer. I don't have FFS and doubt I ever get it. I will be upgrading my graphs this year though for larger screens and some side imaging transducers. Not having the side imaging is hurting my ability to find schools. I am still debating if I will do the MoYak Winter events. There is one on Taneycomo next weekend (13th). I have the drysuit and gear... Last winter, I was fishing every week in the bitter cold. There were a couple of times I questioned my sanity... nomolites and Quillback 2
Quillback Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Sunday actually looks decent. The only other boat we saw yesterday looked to be doing the search for deep fish thing. It is definitely a way to sack them. New Years day Polar Bear tourney on Beaver was won by a couple of guys fishing jigs, so there is still hope for us throwback bank beaters. m&m 1

That was a very good friend (and his partner) who won the Polar Bear and yes, they did catch em on jigs. However, he does have FFS and they used it some. Quillback 1
