Never?   I’ve only been in the winter the past 4-5 years.

Yeah,  I really doubt it ever has . Pretty much any ramp towards the main lake is going to be open no matter how cold it gets . Kimberling froze once that I recall and that was very very rare .

i rememeber about 15-18 years ago we had a sailboat in kimberling on and end slip and it was around 30ft of water and we could stand next to it on the ice

Yeah I think that’s the winter I’m remembering . Wasn’t it in March too ?

Personally have never seen the main White River at the Dam to Long Creek freeze. Neither have I seen the White from Big M to KC Freeze.

Might be some ice in the upper creeks and coves but in 50 plus years on the White I have never seen the channel freeze.

This last spell didn’t even think about freezing Hobbs Hollow. I did see some ice clinging to low tree branches that are in the water.

Don't risk your life to do it....but everyone should try icefishing at least once...with someone that has the right gear and know-how to make the trip successful.  When I moved from Iowa, I gave all my icefishing gear to my buddy... shack, flasher, augers, rods, etc.  Glad to have done it many times, it was fun. Can't say I miss it, though. :)

I have been looking at possible ice fishing guide trips out in Utah for March. A little too expensive for just going myself but would be fun if I had the family with me. One trip you go into the lake area using an Arctic cat and would be fishing for cutthroats.
