There are bonafide issues that truly need to be tended to. And thus far he's the only one with the balls enough to stand-up and fight the fight. If Clunn, Nixon, Vandam, ect. would be honest about their true feelings, and concerns, then things would have NEVER gotten to this point, because bygod everyone would listen to THEM. But their pussied approach and unwillingness to upset anyone has just left the door wide open. They wanna be LOVED, and that's all they really care about. 😮💨 If anything I have gained WAY MORE respect for Randy Blauket, and have lost respect for the big-timers that everyone bows down to. They took a giant crap on the sport IMO. The whole sport is a joke. These guys have the financial intelligence of a mature cucumber. I was looking at the results of a Bass tournament being held on Lake Ouachita. Get this. Out of the top ten for the first day the one with the most career earnings had amassed $24,000. Look at some of the entry fees involved. The expense involved. To break even I imagine unless there is some kind of super sponsor would take $100,000 grizwilson, snagged in outlet 3 and Mitch f 1 2

I really should have directed it more to the people that are really profiting from the sport. When people like Kevin Vandam career earnings are far less than one tournament winner on the PGA tour there is a problem. You would think the producers of $130,000 bass boats and $200 lures could find it in their means to pay more than $1,000 BB pots. On the surface it looks like the angling participants are providing the majority of the money to be divided. Most PGA participants pay little to no entry fees.

Bill Babler Posted February 18 Author Posted February 18 Thread has gotten a little out of hand and off track. PBFL is a stepping stone for folks with higher aspirations. It’s also one of very few events you can fish without qualification. Just a derby if you like competitive fishing. Money is a TOTALLY NON-FACTOR. No one’s business how you spend yours or how I spend mine. This board is comprised of mostly middle class people both retired and mature but still working. What some of us deem as lots of money others can see as disposable or fun income. Shoot for that matter I have a very good friend that spends several hundred grand a year in Vegas. Who cares, he sure doesn’t. What’s the difference? As far as the technology, VanDam and all the rest could in no way stop progress. The World is not staying the same, it’s changing every day. Really I don’t think there is anyway we’re going back to yesterday. Divide and conquer, adapt and prosper. Professional fishing as well as most everything is evolving, whether we like it or not. I know Newcombe, for example, has won a couple bucks here and there the last couple years - well in excess of the amount shown by BASS. Mike
Mitch f Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Well I will tell you I that if I had a son who loved to fish, I would steer him away from professional bass fishing. Champ188 and Quillback 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
