Bucket List Item: catch a fish in all 50 States

Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Kansas, Nebraska, Michigan, Delaware, Maryland, Illinois 

Also British Columbia, Ontario, and Isla de Cozumel.

I fished and zeroed in Indiana and South Carolina. I visited and failed to fish in Washington State, Nevada, and Colorado.

Planning on rounding out UT, WY, MT this year, will likely bag OK too. Then if time allows may take a quick run to the driftless and try to get 3-4. This is trout only. Adding other fish and it goes up.

Cuchillo. We mostly stayed at a resort out in the look take. But also spent some nights in the closest town, China. It’s pronounced Cheena. It was a town straight out of movie. It was exactly what you would think of when someone says old Mexican town. It was awesome. We didn’t speak any Spanish, they didn’t speak much English. We had a blast every where we went. 
 

Fishing was amazing. I caught two 5’s and a 6lber on three consecutive casts. We didn’t have any monsters but my uncle and I both caught one over 10. My dad had a monster on but lost it before he could even get it close to the boat. 
 

One of the coolest places I have ever been.

Hey Devan think about whether you include the sea "trout" like speckled sea trout, weakfish or white sea trout in your totals for those states that may not have a freshwater trout alternative.

Using that criteria I have caught trout in 14 states with 3 that I have only caught sea trout and one, i.e., Maryland, where I have caught both freshwater (brown, rainbow and wild brook trout) and sea trout.

Right now I am at 31 states and counting. I do not have a photo of any of the Lousiana crappie that I caught near Baton Rouge. I may be going to CO this fall and hope to get another state fish then.

Since most states have short term and annual licenses, do you want the state with the highest expense in terms of an annual or per day basis? Also do you want to include other fees like a trout stamp or access permits?

I don't remember any of the states I bought licenses in offering "per day" permits. Most of my traveling was pre-internet/cell phone (seems odd to say that 😅)  although I did have a PAGER on my belt. 

I was just curious which state has the most expensive permit.

In SC I get a 14 day freshwater permit for $11.  In TN it’s $20 for 3 day no trout.  I buy annual non resident in AR every year for $60 plus $20 for the trout permit.

Just looking at base license, I paid $15 for one day in OK. Most other were about $10 per day (typically for 3 day license) or less for longer time periods. Delaware is the cheapest. Nonresident casts $20 for a year or $0.055 per day. That covers saltwater and freshwater fishing. Our 7 day FL freshwater and saltwater license cost close to $65 for each of us.
