What a story.   I expected it to be a turtle somehow ate the fish.

I applaud the guy for not turning it in foul hooked.

Bass that size really aren't the best table fare.  I don't think I would have put a knife on it.

I agree. If I am keeping bass they are going to be less than 12 inches and under most lake slot limits. I find that bass that size don't have that muddy taste like the larger ones. Besides in this instance I would want that bass to spawn.

As I said in another forum where this article was posted.

It sucks that a handshake to honor an agreement does not mean anything to most people anymore. Seems there are hardly any honest, trustworthy people in the world anymore.

My bet is with Wrench on this one. It will be in that freezer forever. I had a friend catch a PB of his and a pretty big bass at over 8# from a local lake around here. He was bragging about how he caught and so on and then he showed me the bass all wrapped up in saran wrap telling me he was going to have it mounted after he got paid. A year later that fish was still in the freezer, and I know for a fact he never got it mounted. I also know he never ate it as well. What a waste IMO.
