Deer season, how’s it been?

How did your deer season go? I might have another day to try during cwd season and maybe a few days during antlerless but so far I’ve spent nearly 4 full days out in the woods and not seen any of them. Got lazy today and just slept in.

My son shot an 8 point on the bow opener and my grandson got a 6 point on the youth opener.  Both were rattled in.

You were putting in the time. Good for you. We actually are not deer hunting this year. We moved recently and lost our previous hunting spot on private land. Spent more weekend and PTO time this year chasing new fish species and did no scouting for new locations. Still have bison from my BIL and my wife is coming home with elk meat from my BIL. Also still have some venison and pork from my daughter's hunt back in the spring. Easy decision to pass deer hunting this year.

Pretty slow since youth season. Yesterday was the first decent sit I’ve had since youth season. Ended ip seeing 15 deer and harvesting a big doe. So far this season I’ve taken three does with the rifle and doubled up with a 2.5 year old 8 pointer and a button head with the bow in early November.

I’m holding out hope that a mature buck will start showing up between now and the end of bow season, but my hopes aren’t very high. I’m sure I will end up filling a few more antler-less tags before it’s over.
