Does anyone else go?   We go to Illinois since it’s closer.  1.5 hour drive.   We’re heading there in the morning for the day.  We love going through the animal barns.  The butter cow and ice cream in the prairie farms building.  And of course the food!   Corn dogs, ribeye steaks and a bucket of donuts😆

I have never attended a state fair.    I've been to a couple of county fairs,  but I haven't done much while there.

We love state fairs. We used to go to the MO fair in Sedalia nearly every year. Never been a big midway guy spending money on games of "chance"😉. But like @snagged in outlet 3 we would go thru the animal barns, see the award winning baked goods, vegetables and fruits. I found the 4H projects pretty interesting. Then try to eat the different food with most being on a stick😁

The MD. State fair is not as big and not as interesting as the MO fair. Back in College we would go to the Allentown fair in PA. Saw CSN in concert twice at the fair.

The funniest story was from the FL state fair. The poultry and small animal barn was sponsored by KFC. It was very funny to see folks with chicks and ducks in KFC boxes.

I guess we have been going more to renn faires than state fairs over the last decade or so.

Have not been to one in years.  Arkansas fair in in Little Rock, I'm not driving that far.  Even for a bucket of doughnuts and some corn dogs.  😁

MO state fair is almost 3 hours and we haven’t been there.  But 1.5 hours to Springfield isn’t bad at all.

I've been to the Sedalia show twice, both a long time ago, about 50 years since the last time.  Saw a pair of mules drag a huge  tractor backwards on a bet, a fantastic machine for picking rocks out of a field, a hog weighing about a ton and heard Little Jimmy Dickens perform "Cold Tater" among other stuff like the bearded lady etc. The time as a high school kid and the  time years later with wife and small children kinda run together.   Every year, I think "we'll go this year" then August rolls around and other stuff is happening. With 4 hours travel, we need to plan accommodation and all that.  Everyone should go at least once in their life.

Went to the Missouri state fair years ago. We stayed at Sand Springs Resort so we could get a little fishing in for that weekend. The Bellamy Brothers were the opening act for Alabama who had recently released "Roll On". Susie and I enjoyed the livestock and midway almost as much as the concert.

Showed Cattle at Ozark Empire Fair.  Been to the Fair itself many times.

State Fair I went once 55 years ago.

Remember going seeing Porter Wagner and Dolly Pardon.

Used to be a regular at Mo State Fair.  Camped in our Airstream.  The exhibits - animals, food, art, quilts, you name it - are all so much fun.  Herding dogs deluxe.  I liked to watch the races too.  Saw David Crosby there, also Dwight Yoakum, both really good shows.  And of course the food.  So yeah Pete, I get it.

Headed to Missouri State Fair on Saturday with the GKids.  We go every year.  I like going when the draft horses are there and watch them do the wagon hitch routines.  Get a steak meal, head to beer garden to listen to whomever is playing for a while, check out the commercial building to see what everyone is peddling.  And just generally walking the whole place checking everything out.
