  1. Seems to target jerkbait fishermen.
  2. For Bull Shoals questions, this is the guy you want to ask: jeremy.risley@agfc.ar.gov
  3. I emailed John Stein who works for AGFC District One about walleye stocking in the TR tribs, here is his answer: It has been several years since we stocked Walleye in the Kings or White rivers and the few times that we have, it was surplus Walleye. These populations are doing very well naturally. The biologist from Missouri has sampled the James River arm of Table Rock and came up to help us on the Kings and White rivers. The numbers of Walleye that run into these rivers is incredible. We collected 251 Walleye per hour a couple of nights ago on the Upper White River out of the Highway 45 Bridge (Beaver Lake Twin Bridges Access). On the Kings River, we have collected over 350 per hour and see some trophy fish. Our sampling method (electrofishing) does not collect every fish. We only get a small sample of the Walleye that are there (if we collect 75 in 10 minutes, we are probably missing another 75). We cannot net fast enough to collect all the fish. We have seen similar numbers in the White below Beaver Lake. Also, we have observed fish that were 14 lbs. These high catch rates are corresponding with the increased popularity of the Walleye fishery in the spring. Stocking at this point is not needed in these river arms and Walleye are doing very well on their own. Thanks for the question and if you have any others, please let me know.
  4. One thing I have seen several of the pros do with that live image stuff is watch fish react to their jerkbaits. They can see them following and adjust their retrieve to what it takes to get them to bite. Watched a musky fishing show where they had the live image transducer on the side of the boat, they were on a river and would just scan the water on the side of the boat until they spotted a musky, then they'd stop and fish for it.
  5. Classic!
  6. Buddy of mine caught a 7.5 a few days ago spooning a dock.
  7. It's been my experience that unpressured wild trout are stupid. They are very spooky, but if you can sneak up on them, they'll bite.
  8. Greek salad fixings, tomatoes and cukes are from the garden.
  9. Wow, amazes me there are no other fishermen.
  10. Some beautiful fish! What is access like - if you get in at an access point are you pretty free to roam up and down the stream?
  11. Recently here in Bella Vista a man was convicted for killing a neighbors dog, it was a felony and he got some jail time, something like 3 months. The dog was a barker and lived in a house somewhere behind where the guy who shot it lived, dog was out on the back deck constantly barking, day and night. The shooter had called the police numerous times about it, and all the cops could do was warn the dogs owners. Finally the guy got fed up and shot the dog with a pellet gun, the wound got infected and the dog died. Charges were filed and the guy was convicted. Can't remember if he pleaded or it went before a jury. I felt for the guy, bum deal in my opinion.
  12. Man, those are some great fish!
  13. That's a good day. talked to someone that fished the upper end today. Foggy there too, and water temp 89. Once the fog burned off it was an oven out there.
  14. Nice ones - you guys are doing good for this time of year.
  15. Just don't take him fly fishing..
  16. Speaking of eating bugs....
  17. Did not fish around Portland when I lived out there it was 4 hours from my house and there was lots of fishing available closer to home. If you can get a day to fish and want to go with a guide, there should be some sturgeon (green and white) fishing somewhere around Portland. I don't know any of the guides there, but here's an example: Portland Oregon Sturgeon Fishing - Columbia River Fishing Adventures I used to fish for sturgeon further downstream on the Columbia out of Kalama. Even a rube such as myself could catch 30-40 a day, they used to be pretty abundant. One thing about November in that part of the country is it is the rainy season there, bring your raingear.
  18. There were some big ones cruising around the shallows on one of the local lakes this spring, supposedly they are sterile, but looks to me they at least go through the motions. If you're interested next spring I'll let you know when they are in there, and it you've got a fly they'll eat that would be neat to see you hook one of those submarines in 2-3 feet of water.
  19. Used to use them kokanee fishing in Washington. Couple of maggots and a single red salmon egg on a #12 hook.
  20. I was checking out the state record fish list for Arkansas, and noticed there is a shad known as the "Alabama Shad". Never heard of them until I read that. Record is 2 lbs. 13 oz caught in the Ouchita river in 1997. Apparently they are a species in peril. Alabama shad - Wikipedia
  21. I was wondering where he went myself. Might be on vacation somewhere.
