Speaking for myself, I'd would imagine a good guide would be more upset with themselves for not putting me on fish than I would be at them. Id like to think a fisherman knows the deal going in. By the same token I've also been on guide trips where I've felt all I did was pay to watch a guy fish for 8 hours and they were glad to take my money.

My wife and I fished with Ray Hanselman on Lake Amistad 7 years ago, and we had a tough morning, but a better afternoon. My wife even caught a ten pounder. I gave him a $50 tip, and he handed $60 back to me and said he didn't do his job good enough that day. I told him that we learned a lot and my wife caught a ten pounder, but he wouldn't take the money back. It was nice to see him do so well last year on the FLW tournaments.

In every profession there are those that go above and beyond to make their client feel like they succedded. And on the other hand, there are those that just want to get the trip over above all.

Yeah, but I had to leave the room because I don't own power poles or a yeti.

Gosh that was spot on stuff. Patch pirates, ha!

I don't think Evers gets accused of being a great guy very often.  Might go down as one of the most unpopular winners ever.  I've met him 3 times and did not walk away with a cheery, warm feeling on any of the 3.  Don't think what jig he was using made one smidgen of a durn.  He found a couple of places they were stacked on.  The guy really did the right thing.  He made a total new move from his first two days. He thought there would be fish there, but knew he had to have the right wind.  Very much like a hunter that stays away from a location without the proper wind.  Got to really credit him however with how he worked the locations over after catching a fish.  He put his nose to the grindstone, stayed focused and fished with great enthusiasm.  He deserved to win, no doubt.

I rarely respond to posts on here especially those based on opinions as everyone is entitled to theirs.  This one is so far off base I feel compelled to respond.  I have known Edwin for over 20 years.  He is one of the nicest, down to earth, humble person that you will ever meet.  Not only is he one of the best anglers on the planet, he is an outstanding husband, father, and man of faith.  To say he is unpopular is simply not accurate.  Go to an Elite Series event and see which anglers get the most applause on stage.  He is one of them.  Check out the autograph lines and see whose is the longest.  He is in the top 5 and will stay until he signs the very last one.   I believe he will make an outstanding Classic champion and bass fishing ambassador.  I would guess that the 20,000 standing and cheering fans on his victory lap around the BOK Center would tend to agree.

A individuals social interactions depend on a awful lot of variables. i would imagine some people would get sick and tired of being barraged with stuff out of the peanut galley of shrilling wanna be's. I respect that.
