Here's a quick rundown on the numbers from my fishing in 2016. If my using a clicker and keeping up with my fishing trips bums you out, stop reading NOW. It isn't about me being better than anyone else ; it's about me being better at catching fish than I was before. Spoiler alert: I'm a numbers guy.

I made 85 fishing trips.

I caught 3679 fish.

I caught at least 36 species of fish (I feel like I lost track of one or two, but that's my Bad.

I had the pleasure of fishing with 27 different people.

I fished in Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas

I used Fly rod, spinning rod, bait caster, Tenkara, and fixed line jig pole.

I wade fished, bank fished, used kayak, jet boat, canoe, Bass Cat, and was the guest in 1/2 dozen other boats.

This year I caught more fish than I ever have before. Last year was a little bit of a down year ( I caught 3197 fish) because of distractions. It really shows when comparing each month in 2016 to each month in 2015. I caught more fish every month except March, May, and October. May I was only off by 2 fish and October by 23.

I have a bunch of BIG plans and BIG goals for 2017. I will save those for another thread.

Way to go Ham, keep count I think that is cool. I was gifted a clicker by OA member Curtise.  I will use it this year for each trip if I remember. I started keeping track at five fish this spring but soon I lost count :) . Maybe I only caught five? See there I already forgot,

Man I think it's cool you do that.   That's great you can fish that much in a year.  I was glad to be able to see you catch some of those fish. Look forward to going again soon!!

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

That is an awesome year congrats Ham.  I wish I could get out that much... This year was nuts for me and I didn't even catch my totals from last year :(

You are giving me some great inspiration to start 2017 with a bang!

Hey, I've noticed that you didn't list Michigan as a state that you've fished in.  Also, you didn't list an ice-fishing pole or a tip-up as a gear type that you've fished with.  We could take a trip up to the U.P. to ice-fish next week if you want.  I checked the weather and the high is 10 and the low is -6, which isn't too bad. You could catch some new species like Menominee Whitefish, Lake Whitefish, Rainbow Smelt, and Splake. We could eat pasties and drink Schlitz.  It would be a good time...

Great job on your fishing in 2016! I appreciated being a participant in a couple of your categories that you listed.

My daughter hasn't had a chance yet to use her ice fishing rig that I gave her last Xmas. We just didn't have any thick ice. Actually hoping to go north to find ice and possibly one or more species to add to our lists.

I'm still working on my 2016 - 2017 goals. So I won't have totals until end of Feb.

Wow Ham, if my math is right that averages over 40 fish per trip. You're sure not fishing Beaver too much. LOL

I have never tallied up all 47 fish that I have caught from 1991 (ish) to now. All on pole and line.  :D.  No, there really are more, like two.  I do enjoy reading the multi species posts.   I plan on getting out a few more times this year.  I am looking forward to a trip where I catch multiple species.   Been a while since I have caught more than 2 different types.   Planning on checking out the micro fishing also.  I really want to catch the darters that I seen as a teenager in the St Francois Creek.   Keep posting fellas.
