Smithvillesteve Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Somebody posted on here yesterday about finding several dead LM around the ramp at Campbell's point. I know we have talked about this subject on here many times so yes maybe i am beating a dead horse. But it is time something needs to be done!! This is unexcusable!! If it means cancelling tournaments when it gets this hot so be it!! We have got to take better care of this valuable resource that we are so lucky to have here. I was glad to see Champ post the other day about proper ways to take care of the fish in the livewells when it gets this hot. Maybe tournament organizers need to check participants to see if they have the necessary items to do this. It is also time to do Catch, Weigh, Release!! Find a way to get this done!! I apologize for my rant but boys this really upsets me!!! Daryk Campbell Sr, magicwormman, Diamond City Fisher and 2 others 5
shrapnel Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Each trip out on LOZ I have been seeing 2-3 floaters, but not just around weigh in sites. Makes me wonder if there hasnt been some toxic algae bloom or something with the temp spike.
top_dollar Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 dead horse topics on the table rock forum.... Is this an old wiggle wart or a new one? How do I tell? How does one properly use a ned rig? Meat fisherman are just destroying the fishery at table rock! Why doesnt the MDC stock bass in table rock? and of course....dead bass at a weigh in...outrageous!! Hunter91 1
fishinwrench Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 It is also time to do Catch, Weigh, Release!! Find a way to get this done!! I Yep! Even if the fish all live through it, hauling them around all day/nite is stupid. Daryk Campbell Sr, magicwormman, dtrs5kprs and 4 others 7
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I don't event want to get into how many I saw that didn't look good when I left a tourney the other day. The people who ran the tourney did great with all the tanks set up. But it amazed me the the fish in my little tracker live well swam off happy as could be, and I guarantee I had the smallest live well out of everybody. I even had a smallie in the box at 6:15 a.m. and he was so pissed at weigh in we couldn't hardly catch him.. A couple frozen milk jugs and g-juice is all It takes, even in the hot part of the day the water in my well was much cooler to the touch than the lake water....... I guess im saying if I can keep them alive, these 70K boats that have much nicer bigger live wells and oxygenators shouldn't have an issue. Browning Guy Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Would really like to see best 3 fish instead of best 5, 6, or 10 in all tournaments, not just the hot summer months and immediate cull rule (not hauling 8-10 all day and then picking out your best at the end of the day). Old plug Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I killed a 5 lb bass on two consecutive days summner before last a real solely from bringing them up to fast. It is something that has bothered me since. I cerntainly should have known better. You got to be carecul with deep fish in all this heat. I never keep a bass. but those two I was forced to. I think right now a lot of fish are suffering from this heat I been walking in back of the docks around my place the lst couple weeks becaise of the boat traffic. I been catching a few bass every evening that are fat helty looking dinks and shorts. I caught a keeper yesterdy evening and it really looked stressed out. I think it sort of shows that the larger the fish the more the hot weather will effect them. Maybe they should just knock off the turaments in hot weather. crazy4fishin and Champ188 2
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I did see some people in the water trying to revive or maybe fizz the fish. But the fizzing should have been done after the catch. Not after weigh in. Just kinda frustrates ya. Champ would have had a come apart!!!!! Champ188 1

I brought up the subject but credit goes to aarchdale for supplying all of the how-to in his follow-up post the other day. No wonder his fish swam off unharmed after the derby he fished. He obviously knows how to take care of them and is diligent in doing so. Quillback and magicwormman 2
