anyone heard of blair's dock service.  had a run in with them at the mill creek ramp today.  they seem to think that the parking ramp and courtesy dock are places for them to work.  they had boats tied up to the dock completely blocking the side the wind was blowing into, which was the only side to safely pick up someone or to drop them off.  the wind would blow the boat away from the dock on the down wind side before anyone could safely enter or exit a boat.

i intend to have a visit with the corp about them.

Woah woah woah......Easy now!   Us working guys pay taxes too !

I've been through this BS before, with people throwing a fit because we use the public ramp for business purposes.

You were still able to launch and load, right?   If so you're just being "one of those guys". 🙄  The direction of the wind is not their fault.

A couple weeks ago I came back to the ramp and a guy was starting to change out his trailer bunks.  I would’ve liked to leave but I waited a half hour for him to finish.  It’s a river ramp so no way around him and I didn’t want him to move the whole show.

He was quick and polite.  Better than others I’ve encountered.

I think I remember signs in the past stating that the courtesy docks were for loading and unloading.  Have they gone away?

At many of the courtesy docks, there are folks fishing off them all the time, usually when the nearby Campground is open....no problem.  Don't like the idea of anyone, commercial or otherwise, completely taking up all of one side of a courtesy dock with numerous boats tied-up to it that are not there temporarily while the owner/boater goes and get's their towing rig.

Haven't you always been one of those guys? Blocking  a public ramp for any purpose business or otherwise purposes is wrong, and you can't make it right.

Maybe they should take some lessons from the dock company that uses the H highway ramp at Baxter … they work well off to the side of the ramp and never bother anyone.

Entitlement is the plague of the new millennium.

I have seen dock repair boats off to the side at Big M also.  But now the bank has that rip rap installed which will prevent people from beaching their boats.  Even so the courtesy dock is not a place for people to be doing work and usually they get in the water and get going to where they are working.

Aging white guy in rural Missouri talking about other people being entitled.  The irony here is staggering. 🤣
