fishinwrench Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 That's probably gonna be too soon for me. I've got family stuff pretty heavy until the 7th-8th when the kids go back to school. snagged in outlet 3 1

Of course now they give it back in spades. 😆 Daryk Campbell Sr 1

I want to present your argument from a different point if view. I understand with the vastness of the universe that the math would indicate that there are other planets that support sentient life forms. That should not diminish that as we currently know we are the only fully sentient beings in our solar system. That in itself should be considered significant. I will get back to this later today. Well, we just don't know how significant we are, when you get down to it. Are we significant only to our solar system--are there other "nearby" solar systems with sentient life? Are we significant to our galaxy--is sentient life actually rare? Will we ever even find out how significant we are--will we figure out space travel and eventually encounter other sentient beings--or will they find us? The number of other planets containing sentient life could be anywhere from zero to "billions and billions". I'm a firm believer in living for today, living in the moment. Not that you shouldn't plan for the future as well as you can, but this life, this experience, this planet, is the only one we KNOW we have, and we should make the most of it, not live in fear of what comes next. If we are lucky and maybe diligent, we leave a mark on the world, and hopefully a positive one. We live on in the memories of those who knew us, and we have to hope the memories are good ones. fishinwrench and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Bushbeater Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I've read the whole post, and everyone's opinions' have valid points. It just reminds me of late night gravel bar conversations when there was abundant alcohol and good weed or even psychedelics. Some of you may have been there. LOL. fishinwrench Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I would never do psychedelics on the river! Especially after watching liquid steel (mercury?) flow from the water fountain in the school hallway, and having the sensation that if I lifted my foot an inch off the floor my teeth would fall out. Had to shuffle all the way to class, where my teacher looked at me like this 🧐 for a solid hour. Hell, I won't even drink more than 2 beers unless I'm at home and reasonably certain that I won't have anything serious to do before I have a nap. 😊

Was to me embarressing as a American. I spent time in the Navy on a old rust bucket it was a living example of what you see or hear may not be what is. The Navy nick named it the' Galloping ghost' of any Coast" And gallop we did. Many places we should not have.been. Doing things we should not be doing By the way that old rust bucket was that unknown carriers that was flying support for the failed invasion of Cuba. A old shipmate who visited me after I got ou was still on board and told me of painting over insignia and names of everything that flew and floated around the clock to get ready for the invasion. The things that go on and we do not know anything about is dangerous and offers nothing to our security and well being The republicans recent behavior in The House of Representatives was an embarrassment?
