I'm no fan of the Chinese government and I personally believe we should be doing all we can to wean ourselves away from Chinese made products.  However I will remain skeptical of whether or not this is a lab created virus.  If it is, we'll figure that out, time will tell.

That's kinda where I am on this too. I'm not ready to believe too awful much that's out there at this point, whether it be normal media channels or the homemade stuff. It will take some rigorous review and analysis to understand this whole thing, and that won't come quickly.

I just haven't bought intone lab grown virus thing yet, I may be a fact I just haven't quite got there yet.  The sheer number of animals, viruses,  bacteria, protozoans, and other pathogens that are in the natural world are beyond my comprehensionn.  Compared to th number of labs working on such a thing,  I just have to think that a species jump is the basic blame/bass for it, and as we should expect more in the future.  Who knows what the next round will come from.  Maybe from a dig, that jumped to a cow and all the growth hormones we use in dairy and bed cattle causes it to mutate to one that isn't as easily transferred, doesn't move as fast but absolutely laughed at any and all attempts we throw at it.  Over the course of 5 years it slowly chews through 20% of the world population.  Hey maybe I need my own video to show.

What country created the Spanish flu that infected 500 million people and killed 17 million to 50 million? Why did they do this and what was their gain?

Considering the methods of information sharing at that time, how accurate do you suppose those numbers are?

They can't even agree on how many people died during the construction of Bagnell dam twenty-some years later than that, so how the hell did they keep a running tally on the whole freakin' world back before doctors were even licensed and funerals were held at the edge of corn fields ?

Oh there we doctors around, plenty of doctors. This was during WW1 . The fighting powers actually undercounted the dead to boost morale. This was H1N1 influenza virus. Poor hygiene, overcrowded medical camps and hospitals. To answer you question I bet there were far more many deaths than counted.

I think the large range indicates it's an estimate; they don't really know. It was a crap-ton though.

Again I think some of you let this fly right over your head. Who created this superbug back then?

I am in the @MOPanfisher camp on this. Viruses mutate and constantly change to adapt and grow. I Don't believe this was purposefully introduced into the human system. Its just like nukes. If a country turns loose of something like that there will be a crap storm started. I think the world powers know better. We in the world depend on each countries for trade for what they do the best. I think @Quillback touched on this some. Do I think the united states should be more self sufficient and not dependent? YES! This is a wake up call. I hope we don't forget.

Biological warfare has been around for along time. I would think the human race should and would know better from the past. Just read some of this, actually read it all,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_biological_warfare

I have hope for the human race. I hate to see this theory spread. Guess I need to get to Wal Mart quick and get my supply of tinfoil for hats before the run on that starts.

One more parting thought. Remember we have children that read this stuff and more importantly those children watch us as parents and grandparents. We are the biggest influence on the future. They see us stressed and they become stressed.  Believe what you want but shield them from all the BS please.
