And anyone considering a AR Rifle weapon of war is a idiot.

Lots of Marines and soldiers might disagree.

6.8 was and still is a popular chamber, lots of talk about it becoming the "standard" for US forces in the future.  I looked up how many options there are even without going up to the larger AR10, and the number of chambering is amazing, and folks are still coming up with them, everything from .22 LR to .50 Beauwolf.

The AR is just a mechanical platform and has proven to be pretty good at lots of things, very few if any is it the absolute best for but sure works for a lot of things, but then again so do a lot of others.  I kind of like mine, might  not my favorite depending on what I was wanting to do, but I still like it.

They have went to M4. Military Rifles can fire full automatic.

We went from M14 to M16 at the time M16 had some problems. Now getting use to M4 is a New problem. Less weight but giving up range.

M4 is nothing  more than an AR with select fire option usually shorter barrel.  There was never an AR 15 semi issued for general  combat that I am aware of, think there were some issued to Air Force security possibly.  And there have been some speciality types based on the AR 10 in.308/7.62 Nato used for as well I belive.  M16 had some issues for sure early on, but the ammo and reliability are decades ahead of that now.

Phil, I don't think there is anybody on OA I wouldn't trust my back too.  We all have our thoughts, pet peeves, just we used to argue thwm.over a few beers and fried fish in the pre social media days.  Lots of us get too worked up, heck I don't even take myself seriously all the time anymore.

Although I've only met Wrench in person twice I'll vouch for him. If his views are off then I'm totally insane. Mostly he just likes to stir the pot.

Look how shook he is.  Can't even say my name without loosing control of his tongue.

Rest easy old man, you're safely outside of my 5 county zone.  😊
