most those guys are gonna fish anyways so why not throw $50 bucks in a pot for a little competition.  Most little bass clubs dont worry about permits to begin with

Why not ?   Because that means they are relocating fish.

Why not just release them where you caught them?  I like that scenario better. 😉

All seems harmless right?  Its just a little tournament not a big one.  Right?   No one will be effected.  Right?  You need food from the supermarket, we all need that, but you don't need to see who has the biggest wiener at the dock.

This is even more true!  😊

Especially since the guy with the biggest Weiner today likely won't have the biggest Weiner tomorrow......So what's the freakin' point of it all?

Stop moving bass from their home range to some place at the other end of the lake, just so you can see whose Weiner is more swollen TODAY.

Man I've been watching the Bassmaster Classic and after watching so much MLF, the fish handling at the classic is horrible.  Boat flip onto the carpet between the seats seems to be the preferred method.  Stringers in the live well.  And then of course haul them to the stadium and parade them under the hot lights.  Only to be "released" who knows where.

Yep, it wasn't a really big deal back when there were only a few tournaments per month.    Now there's 50-75 per month on every lake in the country, with 3 times as many boats in each one.   It's beyond ignorant.

It's ironic that when you truly need biologists to step in and declare something detrimental to wildlife management......they are silent.   Idiots!

To All,

Gotta remember one thing guys..............................  MONEY................... it is what spurs the tournaments onward............. in more ways than one.......  and also our fishing regulations in some ways.........................   MONEY.............................

From what I heard, they did not pull the permits on the north lakes, only the ones in the south zone.  As long as the social distancing rules are followed, there shouldn’t be anything wrong with it.  I am of the opinion that we do not need any more government control over our lives than we already have.  To each his/her own.🤷‍♂️

I get the Regatta permits for our bass club (LOZ and Pomme) and no one has said anything to me about having “pulled the permits”.  We have been very thoughtfully considering if we should cancel our tournaments, or impose some different procedures to keep people at a distance, or something else altogether. Currently our plan (if we choose to not cancel) is that everyone launch their own boat without assistance, stay away from one another,  weigh fish one person at a time while everyone else stays distanced at their boats.

Personally, I think now is an excellent time for bass tournaments to change their format to something more like what the kayak guys do where you take pictures with your phone with a gps and time stamp. And fish for total inches instead of weight. Then you could release the fish shortly after catching it and back in the same spot where it was caught. You would also not have to keep the fish alive in the livewell all day with the picture method.

Perfect time to switch gears 👍

⁷MUSKIE  guys have operated their tournaments that way (pictures)for a long time. I've fished one and it works good. BTW, us old facts remember when catch and release was not the norm and there was no length limits. And, guess what, people ate bass.🤪 Those idiot biologists took a lot of criticism (by anglers) when they introduced length limits. Now some are worried that anglers knock off scales. There's always a few who think they have all the answers and would be a better biologist than those trained to do the job.
