3DHUSKER Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 That was fun but we are slapping the wrong boat driver. 😎 FishnDave 1

An entire crew of jet skis at and above houseman......and what looked like a smaller catamaran/outboard style speed boat.....get this ABOVE the big pillars past the HWY 62 bridge. I'm just now getting acclimated to that area, but that's crazy!

I was even going to let him tie up to our dock if they like. I just don't want to retrieve the buoy from across the lake or worse yet break the cable! THIS. We have a single buoy at the entry to our cove/dock. It has to be replaced every couple of years due to people tying up to it and breaking the chain. Then just the abuse it takes from nonstop wake during the summer/boating months. So if you want to know WHY they can't or shouldn't (aside from the COE making it illegal)tie up we can show you the cost of a new buoy, the registration/permit tags, the 100 feet of chain and the price for the dock company to come out and sink another concrete anchor. So yeah.....swim all you want but don't tie up to the friggin' buoy PLEASE. Perhaps I should put a tip/daily usage jar on top of the buoy to offset the costs of owning the buoy? His boat is mint, and so is mine. Some trash their boat no matter what the make or model. Take good care of your stuff and it will take care of you. That being said, I have a Ranger sitting out in the field waiting for a nice bonefire. It was abused, transom gone and busted out. I bought it boat, motor, trailer, and original trolling motor for $200 cash. Refurbed the trailer, nice c channel model with almost new from factory axles and used it for a while and storing it now. Scrapped the rest out and am money ahead. Used it on other projects or sold off. The Ranger hull was worthless, sunbaked and fuzzy, carpets and other stuff trashed. Motor blown, sold for scrap. It never crossed my mind that someone would tie up to one. Some are these yahoos just don't get it though, its just part of what you got to put up with on the lake. abkeenan, magicwormman and skeeter 3

Something sturdy enough to be a navigational marker should be robust enough to handle having a fishing boat tied up to it for a few minutes.

Our place is across from State Park so the people renting boats there aren't usually aware of boating safety or regulations. Ignorance of the law isn't a good excuse but it's understandable. But these people aren't usually blessed with common sense either. So instead of tying up to a tree or dropping anchor they'd rather just tie up to a buoy floating in the middle of the cove. These are the same people that think it's a great idea to just shut it down and have a picnic in the middle of a creek's main channel with heavy traffic where people are trying to tube/ski. Assuming all the people that have this "condition" are all from Arkansas. 😝 snagged in outlet 3, vernon and magicwormman 2 1

Our's is not intended to be a navigational aid. It's just a visual reminder to boaters not blow past our dock to the back of the cove or create wake to destroy our dock. Nothing more. magicwormman 1
