You know a better, more accurate way? Would love to hear it, so I could have yet another reason to bash a scientist. I use the atomic thermometer to calibrate my boat units - kinda like the atomic clock. But then I am an engineer not a scientist - engineers do things, scientist talk about it. snagged in outlet 3, awhuber, Champ188 and 1 other 1 3
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 29, 2020 Author Root Admin Posted October 29, 2020 57 is awesome! Table Rock will turn when the surface temp drops below the temp towards the bottom. Cold water is heavier than warm water. But it takes allot of colder water to do it.

I have one of those on the wall in the shop, but it goes through periodic hic-cups so I don't know when to trust it or not. My overpriced Snap-On temp gun is right on the money with a melting skift of ice on my test tank, and also with a pan of barely-boiling water when testing thermostats.....So I rely on that as an "accurate enough" synchronization tool. Even though the boiling test is subjective and dependant on your elevation. In fishing it is more important than you might think. I've honestly seen 2° make all the difference in the world during early Spring and late Fall. Champ188 and nomolites 2
