Biggest lure caught Flathead on TR

I posted this 10 yr ago so if you know of a bigger one chime in, it was early spring and I was throwing a 2 oz dbl wleaf spinnerbait (poured and made myself) I was letting it helicopter down on standing timber, hopefully looking for a big pre spawn LMB. The Flathead weighed 52 lb, until I hear different I’m claiming the record.

What was your first thought when you set the hook?

That I had tail hooked a giant carp or the bass of a lifetime. After 5 min of drag slipping (17lbtest) I grasped that this was no ordinary fish. I swear when it rolled for the first time it looked 6 ft long, I beached the boat to get her landed.

Caught one flipping bushes on Truman that would rival it back in the 90s, but not on TR. One of the ditches on the Bucksaw side of the bridge at Long Shoal.

Had one around 15# on a Ned in 2013 or 14.

That's the biggest one I have seen. Congrats. What a fish.

That is a dandy!  I’ve caught big blues on LOZ with cranks and spoons, but never a flattie.

I catch a few every year, usually worming brushpiles in June/July here on LO. 

Caught an absolute giant one year on a stupid Carolina rigged Zoom Centipede.  Had to be pushing 30#, I couldn't even get it lifted up into the boat.

We catch flatheads on TR when we set out trotlines every now and then. Biggest we've ever caught were a couple around 30-35lbs.

With a rod and reel I've only caught one on a magnum wiggle wart and it was about 5lbs.
