Know a nurse that used to work in the ER and one of her pet peeves were the people that would come into the ER looking for treatment for a cold. I know an ER nurse friend of mine who said a guy on welfare once called 911 to send an ambulance to his house to pick him up so he could refill his prescription. fishinwrench Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I'm either lucky as hell, extraordinarily healthy, or both. I simply don't go to any doctors regardless, and whatever it is that's ailing me just miraculously goes away on its own. I even cleaned and superglued a nasty laceration that obviously would have gotten 8-12 stitches had I gone to the ER, and it healed up just fine. I just don't go, even when I think I probably should....and it all works out ok. I don't even have a clue what my blood type is. Isn't that crazy? I hope I don't just flop over and croak some day 😳 How long do ya reckon I can keep living without having a relationship with any medical professionals? Mitch f 1

Can't wait for the story of how that kidney stone works out with no medical people involved. Or the fully torn rotator cuff/bicep... or... Point being stitches are one thing. Other things sometimes occur whether we like it or not. And then Doctors are the best friends you've ever had. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 2

I had a friend that bragged about how he never took a sick day. Then he had kids and it was never the same again. It's good to have medical options and as many as we can get the better. bfishn Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I haven't had a "regular" doctor for ~20 years. Last one of them I had took me off his patient list since I hadn't needed him for a few years. Wanted me to make a 'new client' appointment 5-6 weeks out for an infection that obviously needed antibiotics asap. Went to an urgent care across the street, got in & out with the shot & 'script I needed in about 20 minutes for $25 out-of-pocket. Haven't had a need for a "regular" doctor since. The minor stuff I've needed medical help with I already know what the problem is and what I need a 'script for to fix it. Urgent care fills that need completely with far less hassle and cost. Sure, someday I'll be in a really bad way with something they can't handle, but till then the "regular" doctors can sit & spin. When I eventually need one that has a month or more wait I'll probably just die. Already past my "best if used by" date anyway. snagged in outlet 3, Quillback and Mitch f 3 I can't dance like I used to.

I don't think anybody (dad/grandpa/ect.) ever had to warn me to never pull my balls out while in a briar patch. I just somehow knew not to do it.
