Had this brown brought in this morning - released.  26 inches 9.5 pounds.  Caught on a scud trophy area.

The adipost was clipped.  So I sent a pic to Shane.  This is what he said -

Last stocking of trips was 2015.  They were 2 year old fish.

It had to come from that year class.  So I'm guessing the heat treatment didn't take on this brown.  I don't think it's a true triploid.  The fish would be 8 years old.

Thoughts?

I agree with Shane. If you look at the other ones that old, this one should be much, much bigger. Or maybe it's the runt of the litter..

Side note, the lack of those 10-20-lb triploids being caught is odd, isn't it? For about five years it seemed like one was being brought in every week. Wonder if they all died or moved down lake?

I've wondered about that too they completely have pulled a disappearing act

Just talking out loud here but has all the running water the last year pushed them down lake and now that we are going into much lower flows they are coming back up? Is it a coincidence that a couple of the lowest flow days have produced back to back 30 inch and 28inch Browns the last two days?

Or theyve been made smart like the donkeys on the white. . . or like cj Lord says theyve moved up into feeder creeks
