What do ya suppose those dudes are up to? 🤔 I'm not buying the anonymous hotline tip...... There's more to the story there. Could it be a Wapsi conspiracy ? 😂 I have never taken or wanted to eat a squirrel that looked like that. Did the burn the fur off them?? fishinwrench 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
ollie Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Not to question ethnicity on this or jump to conclusions, but I had a kid working for me last year that was Hmong and they were looking to hunt for the little tree rats and put on a huge feast for there community. He kept asking me about squirrel tournaments and property they all could hunt on. Not saying this was the case on this bust, but it does make me wonder now. Although I'm pretty sure the group he was with would have only taken the legal limit. It still would have been a lot since he wanted to go with about 20 others. Devan S. Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Several squirrel tournaments have members of the Hmong community standing at the weigh in taking them. As I understand it, if you have hundreds to clean you just burn the fur off vs. actually skinning them.

I don't think I want to try squirrel skin at this time. You still have to skin them ! No American squirrel hunter is gonna do that. Sounds like a "wet market" practice to me. If you're worried about getting fur on the meat, just dip them in a bucket of water. Can your even imagine what that smells like? 🤢. tho1mas, nomolites and fshndoug 2 1
FishnDave Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 So, the out-of-state poachers were allowed to keep 320 squirrels...only the over-the-limit 151 were kept? Only facing fines? Pretty lame penalty. In Iowa, poachers could/would have all their catch confiscated, as well as their fishing/hunting equipment, licenses, boats, and sometimes even vehicles! They'd lose their hunting/fishing privileges for a set period of time...sometimes forever.

If they took it to court, and none of the individual hunters admitted to taking more than their legal limit.....then what? No sense in recommending the electric chair unless you have strong enough evidence to successfully convict. And we here in America should BE THANKFUL of that. Actually, if I was a member of that group, I'd say "Hey, I only shot 3 of them, so phuck those guys". I'm only responsible for myself. And I'm sure that's the way it will play out..... unless all of those guys are total idiots. tjm 1
