Fascinating subject.  I wonder about other Missouri springs.  Have they all been explored to their bottom?

Most Missouri springs emerge at their lowest point, where the surface intersects the confining layer. Some have pits, pools, shafts, etc along their path, but unless it's an artesian spring (rare), the water all comes from a higher elevation, nearby recharge area.

I can't dance like I used to.

So when talking about "depth" . . . .  is this not vertical depth measured from the surface straight down?  Does that mean that 472 feet could actually only be 60 feet straight down, then along a horizontal shaft for 400 feet, and then even up 12 ft?  Which is to say they went in 472 feet, not necessarily DOWN 472 feet.

I believe they are talking about actual depth not distance traveled.

I used to see them go into Bennett when I used to go there.   The guy told me there is a huge slug of trout down there right where it narrows. I forget how deep.  It quit going when @fishinwrenchhad them put that hideous pipe in below the main bridge....😑

Did they tell you about the huge albino flathead, big enough to swallow a Volkswagen ?

Oh BTW......I have an object suitable for stopping the flow of that pipe, so all the fish congregated around it will move up into the riffle.

Is there a specific rule/law, and subsequent punishment, that can prevent me from installing it ?

I think that would fall under "putting your object in someone else's hole without consent".

I can't dance like I used to.
