Most Missouri springs emerge at their lowest point, where the surface intersects the confining layer. Some have pits, pools, shafts, etc along their path, but unless it's an artesian spring (rare), the water all comes from a higher elevation, nearby recharge area. ColdWaterFshr Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 So when talking about "depth" . . . . is this not vertical depth measured from the surface straight down? Does that mean that 472 feet could actually only be 60 feet straight down, then along a horizontal shaft for 400 feet, and then even up 12 ft? Which is to say they went in 472 feet, not necessarily DOWN 472 feet.

Gavin Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Nope its depth...Lots of them have been mapped down to 200' or more. MO DNR has some good publications on the subject. Frankly, that spring diving stuff looks like fun for guys who cant get a date. Real scuba diving requires scantily clad women, steel drum music, and clear warm water. snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 I used to see them go into Bennett when I used to go there. The guy told me there is a huge slug of trout down there right where it narrows. I forget how deep. I quit going when @fishinwrenchhad them put that hideous pipe in below the main bridge....😑

fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Oh BTW......I have an object suitable for stopping the flow of that pipe, so all the fish congregated around it will move up into the riffle. Is there a specific rule/law, and subsequent punishment, that can prevent me from installing it ?
